Greenstone Capital was delighted to participate in the inaugural #GreenReturnsSummit organised by the Indian Venture and Alternate Capital Association (IVCA). The event served as a dynamic platform, uniting industry leaders, policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs to foster a meaningful exchange of ideas and demonstrated a shared commitment to tackling the pressing challenges of climate change. The summit highlighted the importance of aligning investments with climate goals, balancing risks and rewards, integrating sustainability into investment philosophies, and adopting governance frameworks for climate-conscious investments. Our Manging Partner, Rahul Goswami, contributed to a thought-provoking panel discussion on Family Offices’ strategies for Climate Impact. Rahul shared his insights on differences in growth drivers between international markets and India. Specifically, growth in India is primarily driven by the commercial value proposition to investors, with minimal consideration for subsidies or green premiums. For example, clean energy infrastructure development increased dramatically after the cost of solar power became the lowest energy cost on a per-unit basis without the need for subsidies. Investing ahead of the inflection point, but not too early, generated the highest returns. The session was skilfully moderated by Vikaas M Sachdeva, Managing Director, Sundaram Alternates, and panellist included Rahul Goswami, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, Greenstone Capital; Nitai Utkarsh, Lead – Investment Strategy and Chairman’s Family Office, Hero MotoCorp Limited; and Manu Iyer, Managing Partner, Bluehill Capital.
