I was moved to tears when I heard Srinivas's story. At the tender age of 5, he shouldered the responsibility of caring for his bedridden, alcoholic father, with his older siblings attending a Government school and his hardworking mother providing for the family. During our community visit in 2022, our teachers met Srinivas's mother and persuaded her to enroll him in Diya Ghar (Akshay Nagar Centre). This decision not only offered him a safe learning environment but also paved the way for remarkable growth. Srinivas successfully graduated last year and is now attending an Affordable Private School, surpassing his mother's aspirations. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our supporters who have played a pivotal role in transforming the lives of children like Srinivas. In 2024, this bright-eyed 3-year-old and his family moved to Bangalore’s blue tent community at Monekollal 1, struggling to make ends meet. With his father a BBMP driver, and his mother, a maid, couldn’t always afford nutritious food. Then Diya Ghar stepped in. After receiving daily healthy meals at Diya Ghar, he became more energetic, growing to 95 cm in height and 14.85 kg in weight. This is what breaking the cycle of poverty looks like.
