Today marks the sixth annual Environmental Professionals Day, a global recognition of the scientists, analysts, advocates, and policymakers who have bravely chosen a career path that often involves field boots, regulatory reports, stakeholder meetings—and the occasional mud sample. Established by the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) and the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA), this day highlights the essential work of those who strive to balance environmental, social, and economic factors in decision-making. Fittingly, this celebration coincides with the birthday of none other than Leonardo da Vinci—artist, engineer, scientist, and possibly the first person to ever say, “Everything is connected.” His spirit of curiosity and innovation continues to inspire the environmental professionals shaping a more sustainable future. Ireland’s EIA Conference - A Day of Insight & Collaboration On 6th March, the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise, Laois, hosted a highly informative and engaging EIA Conference and our Senior Environmental Consultants, Jessica Boyd attended. A fantastic lineup of industry experts from Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Scotland shared the latest developments in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), exploring processes, policies, and challenges. Key highlights included: Engaging speakers providing insights on EIA processes across multiple jurisdictions. Interactive workshops focusing on streamlining EIA reports and ensuring a successful Scoping Consultation. Collaborative discussions on achieving a proportionate EIA that benefits both the environment and the community. Rowan are an Engineers Ireland CPD accredited employer with a vision to provide ‘Excellence with a sense of humour’. Our hybrid working model and offices in Trim, Co Meath and Oranmore, Co Galway provide an excellent opportunity to avoid long commutes and traffic into Dublin or Galway. Rowan work with fantastic clients including leading Irish and international Renewable Energy, Food and Drink, Pharmaceutical, Insurance, Retail and Construction companies.   Our Environmental Director will have shareholding options and work side by side with Tom Rowan, our Managing Director as part of our leadership team and advisory Board. This role involves leadership, motivation, strategy, team building, managing, mentoring and business development. Our Environmental Director will have significant experience in motivating and managing teams and project delivery in one or more of our key sectors: Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) & Environmental Planning  Environmental Due Diligence & Land Contamination Licensing & Compliance ESG & Sustainability   Our Principal EIA Consultant will be working on projects of varying scale and type in the areas of renewable energy (On-Shore Wind, Offshore Wind, Solar, Battery Storage and Anaerobic Digestion), Food & Drink Industry, EPA licensed sites, Construction, and others. They will have significant experience in project managing Environmental Impact Assessments EIAs and the environmental planning system in Ireland.
