    💡#BEREC Chair Robert Mourik (Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg), Ireland) emphasised the importance of collaboration to reach efficient internet traffic transportation and competition as a catalyst for investments & innovation Joining the Fireside chat, part of the Vodafone event Tragedy of the Commons: Is It Time for Responsible Network Use? on 10 April 2025, the BEREC Chair underlined that “BEREC welcomes collaboration between industry players to ensure internet traffic is transported by the most efficient means possible. Telecoms in Europe is changing, with cutting-edge technological advancements and strategic industry shifts. BEREC is ready to contribute to the upcoming review of the regulatory framework and work alongside key stakeholders to ensure that the revised framework is fit for purpose.” In the late afternoon, the BEREC Chair joined distinguished speakers during the panel discussion A Tale of Hidden Champions: The Telecom Challengers Reshaping Europe’s Competitiveness, organised by ecta (european competitive telecommunications association) & VATM, to discuss the future of the #telecommunications sector. Among others, the panel explored the role of competition in #EU’s #DigitalTransformation, accelerating #digitalisation, and strengthening the EU’s global competitiveness. The BEREC Chair stressed that “competition is important for ensuring that operators have incentives to invest and innovate. BEREC considers the maxim ‘competition drives investment’ to still be valid and that it results in the best outcomes for #EndUsers throughout Europe.
