  • Nature is doing the heavy lifting in Apalachicola Bay, Florida.      By restoring oyster reefs and salt marshes, we’re reviving a delicate ecosystem that sustains coastal communities, improves water quality, and shields critical infrastructure from incoming waves. This living shoreline is a powerful, nature-based solution that combats erosion while bringing balance back to the bay – ecologically and economically.       A healthier bay means a more resilient future for the people and wildlife who depend on it.       A huge thank you to our clients Apalachee Regional Planning Council for their collaboration in telling these amazing stories and the positive impact we can make together in our communities.         🔗 https://lnkd.in/ehzifZi2 WSP in the U.S.

What if you could access the global scale and reach to make a real difference?  With us, you can. Recently, our Singapore office had the pleasure of hosting nearly 20 students from NUS Civil Engineering Club for an office visit, providing them an in-depth understanding of WSP as a global leader, the methodologies and workflows of consultancy firms, and how young engineers are supported in their career. To provide valuable industry insights, three of our experienced engineers were invited to share their expertise on project cycles, design rationale, and real-world engineering challenges. We showed the students how our unique workplace culture champions employee professional growth and well-being, encouraging our global expertise to connect and drive idea exchange and innovation. It was heartening to see students actively engaged throughout Q&A sessions, showcasing their curiosity and enthusiasm for the civil engineering field. As part of our commitment to developing young talent, the WSP Young Professional Development Programme (YPDP) is designed to develop the technical and interpersonal skills, and nurture leadership potential of fresh graduates in Singapore. 🌟 Recent graduates (within two years) can explore the YPDP here: https://lnkd.in/gv48K2gD 🌟 Experienced engineers can email sg-recruitment@wsp.com or browse the WSP portal for more opportunities: https://lnkd.in/eAxkbenK #WeAreWSP #Career #Singapore NUS Civil Engineering Club

  • WSP, serving as the consultant for the Feasibility Study of Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD)’s Round-the-Island Trail on Hong Kong Island, is formulating a 60km trail scheme to seamlessly connect and enhance the diverse walking experiences of Hong Kong Island. On 9 March, our Transport and Infrastructure team, led by Deputy Managing Director Emeric Wan and Director Calvin Li, joined CEDD Director Michael Fong, the department’s Project Managers and Chief Engineers, as well as members of the public at the Handmade Trail Workshop for the South Bay Beach to Chung Hom Kok Fresh Water Service Reservoir section. Together, we manually built the trail. One of the distinct features of the trail in the countryside is the adoption of more natural, handmade trails instead of artificial concrete walkways, as far as applicable, for environmental friendliness. As its name suggests, this ‘Handmade Trail’ approach emphasises manual labor, avoiding the use of heavy machinery. The materials used are natural and locally sourced, primarily including fallen trees, rocks, and soil found near the trail. As true trailblazers and pathfinders – particularly in this project, we are proud to make meaningful contribution to connect people and communities with natural landscape, creating better liveability values in Hong Kong.   Know more on CEDD's Facebook page (Chinese only): https://lnkd.in/g-S2y-2e #WeAreWSP #WSPVisioneers #RoundTheIslandTrail #HongKong

  • As we envision future possibilities in our quest to shape communities, we are committed to inspiring the next generation. Last week, we were thrilled to welcome Secondary 4-5 students from different schools to visit our Hong Kong office. It was an incredible experience to see their curiosity and excitement as they explored the world of engineering and sustainability with us. An engaging talk on sustainability and ESG by our Environment Managing Director, Paul Kau, sparked meaningful conversations. Myron Eng, who happens to be an alumnus of one of the visiting schools, shared his personal career journey, offering valuable advice and inspiration. During the office tour, students also got a behind-the-scenes look at our work environment, seeing firsthand how our teams collaborate. A huge thank you to all the students who joined us and to our dedicated team for making these visits so special, as well as Professional Green Building Council (PGBC) for working with us on one of the visits. It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of nurturing future talents and giving back to the community. #WeAreWSP #FutureTalents

We are thrilled to spotlight the remarkable achievements of women in Singapore built environment. Sookyieh Vun MBA RIBA, Director at WSP in Asia, brings over two decades of expertise in project management consultancy and advisory. SookYieh is renowned for her leadership in delivering complex projects and her commitment to sustainable development. My early interest in the influence of spaces on lives led me to pursue architecture, combining creativity with problem-solving. This passion evolved into a focus on project management, ensuring the effective execution of architectural visions. With experience in both disciplines, my role at a global engineering consultancy allows me to provide a unique combination of architectural expertise, project management leadership, and business acumen to deliver impactful solutions. In 2000, I qualified as an architect in the UK. After over a decade of building my career there, I moved to Singapore to further my professional growth. As a global hub for innovation, Singapore offers opportunities to work on projects integrating sustainability, technology, and urban development. This dynamic city has enabled collaboration with diverse professionals, allowing me to contribute to projects that positively impact communities. Overcoming these barriers required confidence, continuous learning, and strong mentorship. I made it a point to focus on delivering results—letting my work speak for itself while advocating for inclusivity and diverse perspectives. Confidence, mentorship, and a commitment to excellence are the pillars that helped me navigate and thrive in a competitive industry. - Seeking mentorship and building a strong professional network helped me overcome challenges, and now, I prioritize mentoring young professionals. Believe in your expertise, seek supportive mentors, and recognize the value of your contributions. -International Women’s Day emphasizes the value of representation and support. Increasing diversity in leadership roles is essential, as varied perspectives enhance decision-making and innovation.  -- 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥. • Kai Tak Sports Park officially launches! Earlier this month, Hong Kong celebrated the grand opening of the mega sporting infrastructure at its centrepiece 50,000-seat stadium. The 28-hectare state-of-the-art sports park has transformed the Kai Tak neighbourhood, once the site of Hong Kong’s airport, as the home ground of the city’s international sports, cultural and entertainment events. The main Kai Tak stadium will host the rugby Hong Kong Sevens later this month, and Coldplay concerts in April. The complex also features a 10,000-seat sports centre, a 5,000-seat public sports ground and three shopping malls. WSP is proud to be involved since the early stage of the project, serving as the technical services consultant of the Hong Kong Government. We provided structural, building services, environmental and sustainability, and traffic planning consultant for the preliminary design. Throughout the project, we oversaw the design from the awarded team and prepare evaluation reports and recommendations to the authority to ensure the design meeting the requirements. #WeAreWSP #KaiTakSportsPark #KTSP
