Yesterday, in #Barcelona, we celebrated the official launch of the The UIA World Congress of Architects 2026 Barcelona, a public presentation to share the great work of selection and research in progress that will define next year’s eagerly awaited #UIA2026BCN. The launch event brought together representatives from all the organising institutions: Laia Bonet, First Deputy Mayor. Area of Ecology, Urbanism, Infrastructure, Mobility, Public Space and Housing; Marta Vall-llossera, President of the Higher Council of Professional Associations of Architects of Spain and the Congress; Iñaki Carnicero, Secretary-General of Urban Agenda, Housing and Architecture; Teresa Táboas, Vice-President of the International Union of Architects and the Congress; Guim Costa Calsamiglia, Dean of the Architect’s Association of Catalonia and Director of the Congress; and Sílvia Paneque, Councillor for Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat de Catalunya. During the event, the official venues of the Congress were unveiled. The curatorial team —Pau Bajet, Mariona Benedito, Maria Giramé, Tomeu Ramis, Pau Sarquella, and Carmen Torres— announced the first confirmations of the #ResearchbyDesign programme, explained full details about the #CallforParticipants and shared its confirmed jury, aimed at promoting the international call. At the National Convention of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), UIA Secretary General Rui Leão joined members of the architectural community to mark UAP’s 50th anniversary and its ongoing contributions to the profession 🇵🇭 One of the key sessions was the International Leaders Forum and the roundtable hosted by the UIA Natural & Human Disasters Work Programme (NHD WP), which focused on how architects can work with local and national governments in responding to crises and building resilience. From a muted sandstone and silver-grey travertine palette to 3.7m-tall panoramic clubhouse windows, every detail enhances the building’s boutique character.
