#Substation | After Gulf Of Biscay HVDC interconnection project (2x1GW) won in June 2023, a VINCI Energies (through Omexom) – VINCI Construction consortium has signed on 2024, December 23rd, the Centre Manche 1&2 Design And Build Construction project, which is made of 2 HVDC onshore stations, each rated at 1.2GW.   Those stations would be located in the Manche and Calvados areas, in the north - western part of France, and would convert alternative current into direct current. Those onshore stations would be connected to offshore platforms through a 320kV Direct Current cable and would allow the safe and reliable integration of 2.4GW of offshore renewable wind power into the French grid network. Direct current conversion is necessary to connect offshore wind farms which are further away from the coast, so as to benefit from better wind conditions and consequently better wind turbine efficiency.   Omexom is in charge of the electrical installation of the HVDC process equipment whereas VINCI Construction en France is in charge of the #civilworks scope. The expected delivery dates for both stations are scheduled in 2029 and 2030.   Omexom, along with VINCI Construction, is proud to be entrusted by our HVDC partner, to deliver such a significant project, instrumental for the Renewable power integration in France. 🤝 This success also illustrates our capability to offer wing-to-wing technical solutions to our clients, building upon our civil works and electrical expertise to support them in their #energytransition.⚡🌍 Our partner Hitachi Energy together with Chantiers de l’Atlantique were awarded this HVDC Offshore windfarm connection project by RTE Réseau de Transport d'Electricité.
