SWEET Project opens 15 fully funded PhD positions 🤖 We are excited to announce that NAVER LABS Europe is part of the recently launched Sweet Project (Social aWareness for sErvicE roboTs), a Horizon Europe MSCA Doctoral Network training the next generation of researchers in socially aware robotics. It is a unique training experience where students spend half their PhD in academia and half with an industry partner, bridging research and real-world applications. This is an interdisciplinary project involving 10 beneficiaries and 15 associate partners, including academic and industrial institutions from Europe and beyond. Our team will: ✅ Co-supervise two PhD students—with M. Antonietta Grasso and Mattia Racca as first supervisors (myself as co-supervisor). ✅ Host four additional PhD students of the consortium, providing hands-on experience in intelligent systems and human-robot interaction. 📢 Applications are Now Open! I have been posting a lot about Enhance Lab lately, but let us not forget that we also do great science at Inria! Here's a fantastic example of open-science collaboration with NAVER LABS Europe in Grenoble, featuring Juliette MARRIE, Diane Larlus, Romain Menegaux and Michael Arbel. Our paper, LUDVIG: Learning-free Uplifting of 2D Visual features to Gaussian Splatting scenes, explores how we can enhance 3D scene representations by uplifting visual features from models like DINOv2 (left) and CLIP (mid) into Gaussian splatting scenes. Gaussian splatting, developed at Inria by the Graphdeco team, is a powerful technique for representing 3D scenes and enabling fast rendering from any viewpoint. By combining this representation with pretrained image foundation models, we bring semantic features into 3D—naturally extending models like DINO, itself a great example of open-science collaboration between Inria and Meta. ... and just between us, Juliette and Romain will be on the job market VERY soon!
