MedPAN aims to promote the establishment, the operation and the sustainability of a Mediterranean network of MPAs.
À propos
Depuis 1990, le réseau MedPAN s'attache à fédérer les gestionnaires d'aires marines protégées (AMP) en Méditerranée et à les soutenir dans leurs activités de gestion. Devenue association loi 1901 fin 2008 et dotée d'un secrétariat permanent depuis fin 2009, MedPAN a pour objet de promouvoir la création, la pérennisation et le fonctionnement d'un réseau méditerranéen d'aires marines protégées. Les actions du réseau s’inscrivent dans le cadre de la Convention sur la Diversité Biologique , de la Convention de Barcelone et d’autres instruments régionaux. Il contribue également à la mise en œuvre de différentes politiques européennes. La mission du réseau MedPAN consiste à promouvoir, de manière partenariale, la pérennisation et le fonctionnement d’un réseau méditerranéen d’aires marines protégées écologiquement représentatif, connecté et géré efficacement contribuant à réduire le rythme actuel de l’appauvrissement de la biodiversité marine. Le réseau rassemble aujourd’hui près de 100 structures du bassin méditerranéen et est en pleine expansion. MedPAN travaille avec de nombreux partenaires stratégiques pour atteindre ses objectifs : le WWF, le CAR/ASP du Programme des Nations Unies pour l’environnement/Plan d’Action pour la Méditerranée (PNUE/PAM), l’UICN Med, l’Agence Française des Aires Marine Protégées, le Conservatoire du Littoral, la Commission Générale des Pêches en Méditerranée (CGPM) ou encore ACCOBAMS. L’action du réseau se structure autour de trois grands axes dans le cadre de sa stratégie 2013-2017 , - Etre un réseau de connaissance, d’information, d’anticipation et de synthèse, - Renforcer la vie du réseau, l’interactivité entre ses membres et leur capacité à gérer efficacement des AMP en lien avec les autres acteurs du territoire, - Consolider la durabilité, la visibilité, la gouvernance et les moyens du réseau MedPAN.

🌊 Participation in the closing conference of the LIFE Marha project On April 1–2, 2025, MedPAN participated in the closing conference of the Life Marha project in Marseille ! Over the past 8 years, this project—coordinated by the Office français de la biodiversité and supported by 13 other national partners —has driven groundbreaking work to assess, restore, and protect marine habitats across France’s Natura 2000 sites. Through more than 650 restoration and governance actions, the project led by several members and partners from MedPAN (Office français de la biodiversité, Aire Marine Protégée de la Côte Agathoise -Mairie d'Agde-, Parc naturel régional de Camargue, Parc national de Port-Cros, Tour du Valat) helped shed light on the causes of habitat degradation and tested innovative solutions to reverse this trend. 👉 Find out more information on the project dedicated website (FR): https://www.life-marha.fr/ !
𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲́𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼̂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝘂 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗵𝗮 🌊 Ces 1er et 2 avril, plus de 200 gestionnaires d'aires marines protégées, représentants d'usagers professionnels et de loisirs en mer, services de l'État, collectivités littorales, associations, et bénéficiaires associés du projet étaient réunis à Marseille pour la conférence de clôture du projet. 💡 Ces deux journées ont permis de faire le bilan des actions menées dans le cadre du Life Marha pour améliorer la conservation des habitats marins et de dessiner les perspectives pour poursuivre la dynamique enclenchée, à travers différentes séquences thématiques : 🔹 connaissances et évaluation de l'état de conservation, 🔹 services écosystémiques et enjeux de conservation, 🔹 accompagnement des changements de comportements, 🔹 réduction de l'impact des activités professionnelles, 🔹 gestion et gouvernance des sites... 🧐 Après 8 ans de travaux dédiés à comprendre les raisons de l'état de dégradation actuel, rechercher des solutions, les tester, puis les déployer à l’échelle nationale pour inverser la trajectoire, la restauration des habitats marins apparaît comme une démarche globale. ♻️ Au delà de la réduction des pressions qui pèsent sur les habitats naturels marins, l'amélioration de la connaissance, la dynamisation de la gouvernance des sites, la sensibilisation et la formation des parties prenantes, sont autant d'actions essentielles à mettre en œuvre de façon complémentaire et adaptée aux contextes locaux pour restaurer les habitats de façon durable. 👏 Merci à l’ensemble des équipes partenaires associées au Life Marha et intervenants ayant présenté leurs travaux et retours d'expériences, ainsi qu’à l’ensemble des participants pour les riches échanges et réflexions collectives partagés tout au long de la conférence. 📅 Les prochains mois seront consacrés à la finalisation des derniers travaux et rapports, à la valorisation de l’ensemble des actions, outils et documents produits dans le cadre du projet, ainsi qu’à la préparation de l’after Life, élément indispensable pour assurer la pérennisation des progrès accomplis. ℹ️ Retrouvez l’ensemble des travaux du Life Marha sur www.life-marha.fr Mairie d'Agde / CAPENA / Ifremer / GIS POSIDONIE / Réserves naturelles de France / Parc national de Port-Cros / Parc naturel régional d’Armorique - Géoparc mondial UNESCO / Parc naturel régional du Golfe du Morbihan / Parc naturel régional de Camargue (Syndicat Mixte) / Tour du Valat - Pôle-relais lagunes méditerranéennes / CIRED / Office français de la biodiversité / Ministères Aménagement du territoire Transition écologique

🌊 MedPAN at the heart of the MedFund's Governance! 🌍 Last week, MedPAN, represented by its President, Renaud Dupuy de la Grandrive attended The MedFund's Board meeting, at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco. Supporting 21 Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across 9 Mediterranean countries (Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece, Albania, Montenegro and Croatia), The MedFund has already allocated over €2.4 million since 2020. With a strong financial position, exciting new initiatives are on the horizon for the organisation: ✅ A Call for Expressions of Interest focused on highly protected areas, to be launched mid-April 2025, ✅ The adoption of the 2025-2030 strategy, to which MedPAN actively contributed, ✅ The upcoming recruitment of a Fundraising Manager. This Board meeting was chaired by Mrs. Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Principality of Monaco, and presented by The MedFund's Executive Director, Romain Renoux. 🌊MedPAN at the 16th Edition of the Monaco Blue Initiative (MBI)! On March 23-24, 2025, under the presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, the Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco and the Institut océanographique de Monaco convened global leaders at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco to address the future of ocean conservation and sustainable governance. This edition paved the way for key discussions ahead of the 3rd UN Ocean Conference (Nice, June 2025) and the Blue Economy & Finance Forum (Monaco, June 2025). MedPAN was present during this event, represented by its President, Renaud Dupuy de la Grandrive ! The network is now looking forward to fostering collaboration between governments, scientific communities, civil society and bother stakeholders—working together to balance environmental protection and socio-economic development ! #MonacoBlueInitiative #OceanConservation
