Today we announce a major breakthrough to scale to millions of qubits: “Super-Hot Qubits” Finland is the land of saunas, where people know how to survive in hot and cold environments. We have achieved a major scaling milestone by teaching our qubits how to also survive in hot and humid conditions. We used the hundred years of expertise in creating hot sauna temperatures to develop the Super-Hot Qubit. This new qubit type can survive in hot and humid environments and will allow scaling to millions of qubits easily. This major breakthrough is based on a new state of matter, the so-called Saunaiorana fermion, which is inherently protected against hot temperatures and throwing water. #IQM #SuperHotQubits #Saunaiorana #LaughterIsTheBestMedicine #AprilFools Jan Goetz Ella Eskola Peter F. Did you know you don’t need a quantum expert to operate our quantum computers? Our unique calibration software Graph-Based Calibration (GBC) stability feature will keep your quantum computer calibrated for months without human interaction. This ensures that the system is always available to run high-performance quantum algorithms instead of wasting time to calibrate your system. In this blog, you will learn how we successfully demonstrated continuous high-fidelity operation for over 100 days without the need for human intervention on our 20-qubit quantum system integrated into the SuperMUC-NG supercomputer at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) in Germany. This was done in support of LRZ’s role in facilitating research by scientists and users. Exciting news: Introducing noise-robust estimation (NRE) for quantum observables on noisy hardware! Noise remains one of the biggest challenges in quantum computing, limiting the accuracy of quantum simulations and computations. While error correction is the long-term goal, near-term quantum devices require reliable error mitigation techniques to push the boundaries of what is possible. In our latest blog, Dr. Amin Hosseinkhani, Senior Quantum Engineer, explains the Noise-Robust Estimation (NRE), a novel noise-agnostic error mitigation framework, and how we implemented NRE on various quantum algorithms, scaling up to 20 qubits and 240 entangling CZ gates, consistently observing highly accurate estimations across different implementation settings. Unlike existing methods, NRE leverages a bias-dispersion correlation discovered within its framework to improve estimation accuracy. This key feature allows NRE to outperform many established quantum error mitigation techniques. These findings establish NRE as a reliable and broadly applicable error mitigation method for quantum computation on noisy hardware.
