🔬 Alice & Bob x Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Quantum Benchmarking Initiative (QBI) 🤝 Alice & Bob has been selected to participate in the Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, a program evaluating leading fault-tolerant quantum approaches and their ability to deliver utility by 2033. The QBI selects technologies considered to have the highest potential to scale to utility-level operations, and we're proud that our hardware-efficient cat qubit technology has been recognized among other forerunners in quantum computing. 🐈⚡ In the first phase of the program, participants will be challenged to create a report to elaborate their concept. The goal will be to demonstrate how it will reach utility on specific use cases - a chance to stress-test our design with DARPA’s leading subject matter experts. The program will also be a chance for us to dive deeper into high-technology use cases in areas like chemistry and material science. Thanks to these leading-edge collaborations, we’ll accelerate the journey to turning our technology into scalable, impactful applications. We’ve got our paws in the game, and we’re here to win! 😉🐾 Read more in our press release ➡️ https://bit.ly/4lgIpBQ

What happens when you open the doors to a quantum lab? 🔬 Fun, curiosity, and maybe even the spark of a future physicist’s career! 😉 At our Open The Box day, we invited our friends and family to visit our lab 👩🔬 They got up close with cryostats 🧊 enjoyed 101 explainers on our tech, and colored quantum machines in the kids’ zone ⚛️🎨. Guests of all ages dove into our quantum world, and the energy was electric! We even took the chance to pick their brains on some exciting future designs 👀 When you’re deep in the work, it’s easy to forget how cool it all is! Faces full of awe, curiosity and pride are the perfect reminder of why we do what we do. Here’s to doing it again next year 🙌 #quantumcomputing #physics #openthebox

⚡ Alice & Bob’s CEO Théau Peronnin joined NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang and other quantum leaders on stage yesterday at #GTC25! ⚛️ 🤝 This seminal panel brought together top voices from our field to tackle the biggest questions from timelines to impact to the road ahead. 🌎 💡 Our top takeaways ⬇️ 🔷 Finding breakthrough applications will be key. The first wave will most likely come in areas like chemistry and materials science, where quantum can tackle problems classical computers can’t. But these are not a given. As Théau Peronnin said, developing new quantum algorithms and improving hardware will be crucial in making these happen. 🔷 Different approaches, same endgame. 🎯 Each quantum method has its trade-offs, but everyone agreed on the key ingredients for success. Speed, scalability and, above all, error correction will be the things that make the difference. At Alice & Bob, we're laser-focused on all three to achieve our goal of scientific utility by the end of the decade 🔬 🔷 Quantum computing is a journey. Quantum today was compared to the early days of classical computing, NVIDIA back in the 2000s, and even the space race. 👨🚀 But useful applications are moving closer. With our hardware-efficient cat qubits, we plan to bring the first impactful use cases with 200x fewer physical qubits! 🚀 Read our roadmap: https://lnkd.in/e9ikbW9N And if we’re sure of one thing, it’s that the journey is worth it. Just ask Jensen Huang, who announced Nvidia’s investment in integrating their GPUs with future quantum computers! 🖥️ Huge thanks to Jensen Huang and #GTC25 for having us. We hope to be back to continue the conversation next year! How do you make cat qubits 160× more resilient to bit-flips? Give them a squeeze. 😉 In our last post, we shared our new paper on “squeezing”, a technique that boosts the bit-flip lifetime of our cat qubits by 160x without increasing phase-flips. 📝 Now, in our blog article, we take you through the thinking behind our experiment. Learn about our cat qubits’ built-in error protection, squeezing’s roots in quantum optics, and how we apply this principle to cats. 🐱🔧 ➡️ Ultimately, squeezing lets us get significantly more performance out of our cats without adding hardware, enhancing their error protection by design and hardware efficiency. 🚀 ⚛️ Congrats to Rémi Rousseau, Anil Murani and all the other researchers involved! What if we could “squeeze” even more performance out of cat qubits? 🐱⚡ Well, now we can! 📝 In our new paper, we show how applying a technique called “Squeezing” can drastically reduce overall errors. 🦸♀️ Cat qubits are already protected against bit-flips errors. Normally, we do so by increasing the average number of photons. This extends their bit-flip lifetime exponentially but increases phase-flips linearly… A favorable trade-off when it comes to total errors, but can we do better? ⚖️ Squeezing shifts this balance further in our favor. It makes the positive effect that photons have on bit-flips even stronger without affecting phase-flips, reducing overall errors without the usual cost. 📈 Our research shows a 160x increase in bit-flip lifetime, while keeping phase-flips constant. 🔎 Fewer errors to correct brings us a step closer to practical error correction, which is critical for scalable and useful quantum computing. 👏 Congratulations to Rémi Rousseau, Anil Murani, and the whole team who worked on the paper! Swipe for a visual explainer ➡️ Read the paper 👉 https://lnkd.in/eVBcg2pX 👀 And stay tuned for our next blog post for an in-depth look at Squeezing. #quantumcomputing #physics #squeezing

🔬 Behind every achievement, a journey… This International Women’s Week, we’re sharing 7 journeys in science from women at Alice & Bob. In the world of scientific research, individual women lead and shatter stereotypes. But as a community, we are still far from where we need to be when it comes to bridging the gender gap. On our blog, women at Alice & Bob recall their experiences navigating the worlds of science and deep tech. Their voices ignite a conversation we all need to keep having: how can we change this deep imbalance, call out inequalities when we see them, and build a future where women have the same incentives to succeed in their scientific career? ➡️ Read their stories here: https://bit.ly/3DopjZg #IWD2025 #womeninscience #quantumcomputing

Amazon Web Services (AWS) just announced their first quantum chip, Ocelot 👀, and we know you've been waiting for your Alice & Bob digest 😏 🔎 …Let's see how it compares to our technology. // 01. PURE vs HYBRID AWS also uses cat qubits, but with a twist: they pair them with transmons. Cats store the information, transmons handle error correction. 🐱 // 02. THE TRADE-OFF Cat qubits resist bit-flip errors by injecting photons, this is their superpower 💎. But pairing them with transmons weakens this protection. On the flip side, transmons are a more mature technology, helping AWS build larger chips faster. 🏗️ // 03. DIFFERENT ROADMAPS Our error-correction strategy is different. AWS’s hybrid approach still needs to correct both bit-flip & phase-flip errors. With our pure-cat approach, we aim to eliminate bit-flips, meaning we’d need about ten times fewer qubits than AWS to run useful quantum algorithms. ⚡ Curious? Check out Alice & Bob's roadmap: 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDRRsc6k That said, AWS’s achievement is impressive! They demonstrated error correction on cat qubits. Google’s latest Willow chip had a 10x lower error rate, but AWS used 5x fewer qubits, a major step toward scalable quantum computing. 💡 Exciting times ahead. 🚀 #research #physics #quantumcomputing #AWS
