Energy labels
The European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL) is a one stop shop for consumers and sellers to find an extensive list of energy labels related to products for sale online or offline. All products requiring energy labels must be registered in the EPREL database before they can be sold on the EU market. Product information can also be found on this database.
Energy labels are clear, easy-to-understand colour rankings based on the energy consumption of products. The labels indicate regulatory requirements, some environmental standards and allow you as a consumer to make informed choices. Energy labels rank appliances on a scale from A to G based on energy consumption:
Class A (green) appliances consume the least energy – they are the most energy efficient.
Class G (red) appliances consume the most energy.
EU energy label rules apply not only to household appliances but also to energy-related products — goods or systems that impact energy consumption during use e.g. water heaters, air conditioners, boilers etc. However, the rules do not apply to second-hand products or transportation means for goods and people.
Rating system without a plus sign
The rating system uses a simple A to G scale, since 2021 without the "+" sign, for the following product categories:
- Refrigerators
- Dishwashers
- Washing machines
- Televisions, monitors etc.
- Light bulbs and lamps
Products that require labels
