Meet Vodacom Mozambique’s Daisy Jardim, a pioneering volunteer whose passion for technology and education is reshaping communities.   In 2013, Daisy was struck by lightning. From then on, she wanted to learn more about electromagnetic waves so took a step to study electronic engineering. Around the same time, Vodafone Foundation, in partnership with the UNHCR, launched our Instant Network Schools (INS) – a programme that improves the quality of education in some of the most marginalised communities in Africa 🌍   Fast forward to today, and Daisy is an advocate for #digital empowerment through the INS programme. Her dedication earned her the title of Vodafone Foundation’s Volunteer of the Year, showcasing her leadership in using technology for societal good 🏆   Daisy and her team are on a mission to help refugee communities harness technology to revolutionise learning, inspire growth and transform the leaders of tomorrow! Subsea cables play a vital role in Europe's connectivity, competitiveness, defence readiness, and economic stability 🌊🔗 Vodafone, alongside a group of other leading European telecoms operators and cable industry companies – Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Submarine Networks, GlobalConnect, NKT, Orange, Proximus Group, Sparkle, Telefonica and Telenor – has written an open letter to European, UK, and NATO decision-makers. Calling for closer co-operation with EU and UK industry stakeholders, the letter argues the need to take additional measures to further develop harmonised approaches for the subsea cables ecosystem to increase its resilience and security.
