📆 Tomorrow, in our #NetworksWeeklySeminar, our PhD Student Orlando E. Martínez-Durive will present an Evaluation of RAN Sustainability Strategies in Production Networks. 🔹 Orlando will talk about the work he conducted during his research stay at Telefónica, recently accepted at INFOCOM 2025. He analyzes fixed-threshold carrier switch-off policies in a real-world production network and reveals both the current limitations and future opportunities for making Radio Access Networks (RAN) more sustainable. 🏫 Esta semana, 18 estudiantes de 4º de la ESO del IES Isaac Albéniz, IES Arquitecto Peridis, IES Maestro Matías Bravo y el IES Francisco Umbral se han sumergido en el día a día de IMDEA Networks a través del programa 4ºESO+Empresa de la Comunidad de Madrid. 😄 Durante estas dos jornadas, nuestro equipo ha acompañado al grupo de estudiantes en un recorrido por los diferentes departamentos del instituto y nuestros laboratorios de vanguardia. Han tenido la oportunidad de conocer de primera mano cómo es la carrera investigadora, explorar las áreas en las que trabajamos, descubrir el poder del machine learning, adentrarse en el mundo del 5G y aprender habilidades digitales para potenciar su marca personal en la web. Además, han podido entender la importancia de comunicar los resultados de la investigación a la sociedad. 🔐 Como broche final, participaron en un escape room sobre telecomunicaciones. 📡 Una experiencia pensada para acercar la ciencia y la tecnología a las aulas e inspirar nuevas vocaciones desde dentro de un centro de investigación. 💚 IMDEA Networks is proud to have contributed to the ECOMOME project, a research initiative focused on optimizing energy consumption in mobile networks! We played a crucial role in assessing the energy footprint of future 6G infrastructures. 🌱 “We enhanced our in-house programmable network testbed with advanced hardware-based energy monitoring capabilities and conducted experiments with popular network programs and real-world traffic data,” says Marco Fiore, Research Professor at IMDEA Networks and principal investigator of the project at the institute. 📖 Clear and effective scientific writing is essential for communicating impactful research. Today, part of our team participated in a workshop led by Jordi Perez Colome, where they explored key techniques to enhance their academic writing. Through a combination of theory and hands-on exercises, they worked on crafting clear titles, concise abstracts, and improving overall readability. A great opportunity to refine communication skills and make research more accessible and compelling! ✍️

¡Éxito total en #MadridEsCiencia! 👏 Durante tres días, miles de personas exploraron la ciencia y la tecnología en nuestro stand a través de demostraciones interactivas y se llevaron muchos premios 💙 🧠💡 Desde computación cuántica y blockchain hasta machine learning, el público descubrió con nuestros juegos cómo la tecnología transforma el mundo. Experimentaron cómo "ven" los ordenadores, cómo se transmite música a través de la luz, cómo se calculan rutas eficientes en Internet y pusieron a prueba una IA escribiendo palabras para ver cómo las relacionaba. También jugaron con un radar de última generación para explorar ondas electromagnéticas y aprendieron sobre los sistemas binario y hexadecimal con displays de 7 segmentos.
