Did you know that in Liepāja, with a population of 70,000, there are an estimated 27,000 cars? Managing vehicle emissions efficiently has become essential for a sustainable future! 🌍 Thanks to the RAPTOR programme, GaiaHub simplified this challenge with its license plate recognition technology and advanced data analytics. This innovative solution tracks vehicle emissions with accuracy, helping cities take actionable steps toward cleaner air. “We can see which group of vehicles are having the most impact on the environment. So, this data can already bring a lot of insight for citizens and for the city government to develop their activities or policies,” shared Olena Chornovol, co-founder and CEO. Did you know that walking just 5,000-6,000 steps per day can reduce the risk of all-cause mortality by 40%? Yet, despite health benefits, many people don’t—or can’t—choose active mobility as their first option. Why? Because barriers still stand in the way: ❌ Theft risks: What if my bike is taken while I'm not looking? ❌ Safety concerns: What if I get into an accident while cycling? ❌ Convenience: Is it worth the effort to go walking? But innovation is helping to overcome these barriers, with startups like MIOO, EVIX or walk15.app making active mobility safer, easier and more accessible for all. What other startups are breaking down barriers to healthier ways of moving? Let us know in the comments! ⬇️ #WorldHealthDay #Innovation #UrbanMobility #Cycling

🌍 Can advanced tech make cities more walkable, inclusive, and sustainable? Tampere believes so. Through the WeGenerate project, the Finnish city is reimagining how cities are designed and governed by placing people at the centre of the process. Citizens aren't just consulted: they are co-creating their neighbourhoods using immersive tools like digital twins, AR/VR, and platforms like Maptionnaire. What makes Tampere’s approach stand out ⤵️ - A citizen-first model for developing its “Citiverse” - Strong focus on sustainability, equality, and health - Smarter, greener planning to support walkability - Responsible use of advanced technology for better governance This isn’t the Metaverse as we know it; it's a human-centric platform to design healthier, more liveable cities!
