Congratulations to Lizl Veldsman from South Africa on winning the prestigious Harry M. Vars Award from the American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN)! 🎉 This award honors early-career researchers who contribute important new insights in the field of parenteral nutrition. Lizl participated in the first wave of our JUMPstart Clinical Nutrition Program, where she proposed an original research project. She received a €250,000 grant from Fresenius Kabi, which enabled her to conduct her study project. Her research explored whether additional intravenous protein, combined with daily in-bed cycling, can help intensive care unit (ICU) patients preserve muscle mass during the first weeks of critical illness, compared to standard care. The findings could support improved recovery and quality of life for critically ill patients. Our people take pride in knowing that a Fresenius Kabi blood bag is used in one out of every four blood donations worldwide. But our colleagues in Hořátev, Czech Republic, take it one step further: twice a year, they donate blood using the very bags they produce. "Each bag, into which roughly 450 ml of life flows within 10 minutes, has passed through the hands of our people. It is amazing to see that they are willing not only to produce but also to donate themselves," says Ing. Iva Macková, General Manager of the plant. 🏆 What a night! Yesterday, we came together to honor some of the most inspiring ideas and passionate people across Fresenius with the launch of our internal 𝗘𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗞𝗿ö𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 – named after the visionary business woman who transformed Fresenius into the global enterprise it is today. This award is all about recognizing teams whose projects truly bring her legacy and our Fresenius Principles to life – from bold innovations to meaningful collaborations, all driving better care for patients around the world.   Out of more than 180 amazing submissions, five teams stood out. Tania’s day as a Marketing & Sales Associate starts with a perfectly brewed latte – a moment of calm before diving into work. Taking a look behind the scenes of our visual inspection process in Werndorf, Austria: "We care for excellence" - one of our Fresenius Principles and the motto of a recent event at our Werndorf/Graz site. Employees from the various units from Fresenius Kabi Austria had the chance to see firsthand the thorough work of our visual inspection department. From manual inspections using black boxes to semi-automated checks with conveyor belts and magnifying glasses – every product undergoes rigorous inspection processes to ensure highest quality standards. 🔍 Participants got hands-on experience of how every detail of our products is inspected. Next step with #Biosimilars as FDA approves Fresenius Kabi’s Biologics License Application (BLA) for our denosumab biosimilars. This is an important milestone for Fresenius and a testament of our expertise. Additionally, we have reached a global settlement with Amgen, allowing the launch of these biosimilars in the US from mid-2025 and in Europe later in H2 of 2025, subject to regulatory approval.
