We are excited to announce a new transatlantic service powered by wind. Today we have signed a partnership agreement with TOWT, introducing sail cargo for the low-carbon transport of healthcare products within our DB SCHENKER | life+ industry solutions. TransOceanic Wind Transport (TOWT) specializes in efficient maritime transport by sail. Together, we plan to set sail with the first deliveries in July, offering three routes from Le Havre, France to Guadeloupe, Brazil, and New York. The advantage of this new mode of transport undoubtedly lies in its ecological impact, as these cargo ships can emit less than 1 g of CO2 per tonne-km. Capable of carrying 1,100 tons of cargo, the ships are equipped with advanced technologies and will transport non-heat-sensitive products, such as medical instruments, medical devices, consumer health products, and more. First stop – Frankfurt, Germany! Today marked the day when we at DB SCHENKER took the next steps in revolutionizing urban logistics with the handover of the Volvo FM Electric Low Entry truck, the first to be tested in groupage operations outside of Sweden. Designed with our drivers’ safety and comfort in mind, this electric truck offers excellent visibility and a low-entry cab, making it ideal for frequent stops and urban deliveries. Over the next six months, the truck will be showcased across 10 branches in Germany. With a gross combination weight of up to 20 tons and a range of up to 200 km, it is well-suited for various city segments. This initiative highlights our commitment to more sustainable operations and driver well-being. By comparing the Volvo FM Electric Low Entry with our 40 Volvo FM Electric Standard trucks, already in operation for the last mile in Germany, we aim to gather valuable insights to continue leading in innovative, driver-friendly solutions alongside our partner Volvo Trucks Deutschland. DB Schenker in Asia Pacific signs MoU with Neste to work towards lower-emission logistics. “DB Schenker is committed to conducting its business with the smallest possible ecological footprint. In support of this commitment, we have agreed on expanding the adoption of Neste MY Renewable Diesel. We hope to transform our whole industry together with our partners and customers with the use of renewable diesel as a viable solution for decarbonizing our land transport operations in the region,” said Christoph Matthes, Senior Vice President, Head of Land Transport in APAC at DB Schenker.

The journey of this Gas Turbine to the construction site in Rybnik, Poland, reached a significant milestone when it arrived at the construction site at the end of February. The turbine was then transferred from a Trailer Hydraulic Platform (THP) to a Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) via a first lifting system (gantry system). Using the SPTMT, the Gas Turbine has been positioned underneath a second lifting system, which has been assembled inside the Gas Turbine building for the foundation placement of the Gas Turbine. Local media outlets were also present and reported on the foundation placement, highlighting this project's importance to the community and the energy sector. Amid significant media attention and presence, the arrival of the gas turbine and foundation placement was attended by several honorable guests including the Mayor of Rybnik and the Management of the consortium partners. This underscores the project' importance to the community and energy sector, as well as the collaborative commitment to advancing Poland's infrastructure.   A big thank you to our dedicated team and partners and Siemens Energy for their hard work and trust in us.
