This weekend, Handelsblatt published a special on longevity investing, covering both the American and the German market potential. Our Investment Manager, Isabelle Schiffer, Ph.D., specializes in longevity biotech and had a great time chatting with Maike Telgheder about where the field is heading in Germany, how we scout start-ups at b.value, and why longevity is becoming one of the biggest biotech trends. At b.value, we are always excited to wear a lab coat again! 🧪 We believe that deep tech breakthroughs require not only visionary founders but also hands-on expert support. That’s why we are happy to share that our colleague Marie Kappen was on-site as a technological expert during a major milestone of our portfolio company FluIDect –  the demonstration of the SpheroScan Explorer prototype for applications at bioprocess monitoring and water analysis. 🔬 FluIDect is 𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥-𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞-𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐬. This was demonstrated by FluIDect last week during the demonstration at Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute. Also last week, they delivered their prototype with automatic sampling and analysis to MicroBubbles GmbH and successfully demonstrated the detection of PFAS in water samples - two exciting steps forward that Marie was proud to be part of. 🥳 Congratulations to FluIDect on these achievements!

Let’s celebrate: 🏆 FluIDect won the prestigious EIC Accelerator, securing up to €2.5M in funding to bring their #SpheroScanGuard to market. 🌍 FibreCoat was selected for the ESA BSGN | Business in Space Growth Network Accelerator by the European Space Agency - ESA - one of six European start-ups shaping the future of lunar technologies. 💡 SenseUP Biotechnology GmbH received the ZukunftBIO.NRW grant to develop organic cosmetics that support the skin microbiome. 🔬 FluIDect successfully delivered a prototype of their SpheroScan Explorer with automatic sampling and measuring unit at MicroBubbles GmbH and demonstrated how it can precisely determine the concentration of specific proteins in pharmaceutical cultural media directly at the production site at Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute. 🌱 traceless materials won 2nd place in the blooloop Innovation Awards 2024 (Sustainability category). 🎨 revoltech was honored at the German Design Award 2025, winning in Excellent Product Design – Materials and Surfaces for LOVR™. 🔬 FluIDect also took home the Prism Award 2025 (Sensors category) at SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics with their SpheroScanExplorer. What a great success for our deep tech team at FluiDect. The possibility of online liquid detection for the first time is an enormous step. ‘Innovare’ means ‘to renew’. It doesn't mean ‘to make something a little better.’ Congratulations to the team and especially to Klaus, Michael and Tobias.
