Paul Y. in joint venture with China Railway Construction Co., Ltd. 15th Bureau was pleased to make history by the use for the first time last night of an innovative rotating bridge system in Hong Kong on Contract No. ND/2019/05 Fanling Bypass Section (Shung Him Tong to Kau Lung Hang). The innovative equipment allowed the viaduct section to be cast in-situ by traveling form method side by side with East Rail and rotated the whole section into position above the East Rail tracks during one night of non traffic hour (NTH). This obviated the need to require many more nights for NTH for the in-situ construction above East Rail track to minimise inconvenience to MTR Corporation Limited 香港鐵路有限公司 and the public. This momentous event was witnessed by representatives of all stakeholders, including DEVB, Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD), Hong Kong SAR Government, MTR Corporation Limited 香港鐵路有限公司, AECOM and other business partners. On #WorldNoTobaccoDay, created by World Health Organization in 1978 to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes.    Paul Y. in collaboration with United Christian Nethersole Community Health Service hosted a #SmokeCessation workshop at our site office in Fanling North New Development Area, Phase 1: Fanling Bypass Eastern Section project. We were pleased to have a facilitator from United Christian Nethersole Community Health Service present to give full support to a group of our colleagues of more than 20 personnel comprising local, new arrived and ethnic minority colleagues who attended the workshop and indicated their desire to stop smoking.   There was a 45-minute sharing about the potential health risks of smoking, followed by one-on-one counselling with free smoking cessation medication given to each participant - we hope everyone at the workshop had a great time!   Paul Y. is grateful to United Christian Nethersole Community Health Service for the collaboration and looks forward to organising more CSR events in the future. #smokecessation #healthylife #health #nosmoking #CSR #worldnotobaccoday #smokefree

Paul Y. was honoured that Ir Jonathan Wong, Director, was invited to attend and be a panellist at the Digital Economy Summit last week to discuss and exchange views on how smart city technology can accelerate future growth of digital economies. The Summit attracted over 4,000 attendees, including over 100 technology visionaries, industry pioneers and business leaders from across the world.   Ir Wong shared how cutting-edge technology will transform and support the expansion of the digital infrastructure revolution and Paul Y.’s experience in adopting innovative technology in its operations to enhance site safety and quality: "We have driven our company to adopt application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) on projects during the full project cycle from planning stage to installation and testing & commissioning stages.”   At the end of the panel discussion, Ir Wong added: “We should put more effort and resources in driving our people to adopt BIM and its wide range of applications in developing more and more world class smart buildings for Hong Kong in the future”.   We will continue to play a part in the application of innovative technology in the construction industry.   #innovation #construction #BIM
