  • Shipping accounts for 3% of global emissions, and without action, this number will continue to rise. 🚢 Despite the urgent need to cut emissions, conventional fossil fuels still dominate the industry. Zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs), such as low-emission ammonia, can be part of the solution, but they must become cost-competitive to drive real change. 📝 The International Maritime Organization’s upcoming regulations can create an effective framework that accelerates global shipping's decarbonization journey, by ensuring price parity for scalable ZNZ fuels. Now is the time to act.

The green transition needs green numbers.   📝 For zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) to scale, predictable regulations are essential. Without them, uncertainty will delay or even cancel much-needed investments.   🎯 The International Maritime Organization’s Net-Zero Framework must provide the right incentives to drive demand and ensure willingness to pay for ZNZ fuels.   ✅ A strong and stable regulatory framework will unlock investment and enable ZNZ fuels to compete with fossil fuels. Without it, the transition will stall.   The shipping industry is ready to move - but member states of the IMO must set the course. ⚓

The IMO must take bold action to drive zero-emission shipping. 🚢 Right now, regulatory uncertainty is slowing investments in zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs). Without clear policy measures, fossil fuels will remain the default choice for years to come. 📝 Member states of the International Maritime Organization have a historic opportunity to set ambitious rules that create demand and provide certainty for ZNZ investments. 🎯 The IMO’s Net-Zero Framework must ensure that ZNZ fuels become a viable and competitive option - not just an aspiration. ✅ Clear, predictable regulations will unlock investments and scale-up. Weak policies will stall progress. The time to act is now. ⚓

  • We’re excited to be featured in The Climate Drive Action Library by WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, for our commitment to reducing the environmental impact of our plastic packaging!👏 ♻️ Plastic packaging plays an important role in protecting fertilizers from moisture and damage, but it also contributes to emissions throughout its lifecycle. ✅ That’s why we’ve taken action by cutting virgin plastic use by 10% in 2024, enhancing recyclability, and supporting collection and recycling schemes – without compromising product quality and integrity. • ✨A royal visit to the world's northernmost fertilizer plant!✨ The Crown Prince of Norway visited Glomfjord, where he toured Yara's plant, the world's northernmost fertilizer production plant, and saw firsthand how hydropower is transformed into mineral fertilizers that help feed the world.  ⛰️ Our dedicated colleagues showcased how hydropower from the surrounding mountains powers large-scale fertilizer production, supporting a value chain that connects local industry to global agriculture and food. 🏭 Established in 1955, Yara Glomfjord sits just 5 kilometers within the Arctic Circle and has been a cornerstone of fertilizer production for decades. Today, it continues that legacy, operating four production units and one of Northern Norway’s busiest ports. 🔬 A key focus of the visit was the importance of local expertise. The Crown Prince met students from Glomfjord Upper Secondary School, where Yara has helped develop chemistry and laboratory study programs. Each year, Yara Glomfjord welcomes new apprentices, ensuring the next generation has the skills to keep this industrial hub thriving. A big thank you to our Yara Glomfjord team for their incredible work! Your dedication is crucial in helping us responsibly feed the world and protect our planet. 👏

  • "When the incentives are there, we’re ready to scale up." 📝 Speaking to Bloomberg News, Yara's President and CEO, Svein Tore Holsether, highlighted low emission ammonia’s potential as a maritime fuel and the policy measures needed to make it happen. 🚢 Shipping makes up 3% of global GHG emissions and still relies on fossil fuels. That must change. Low emission fuels like ammonia can be part of the solution, but they need to be as affordable as today’s fuels. ✅ The upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) Net-Zero Framework will be decisive. Strong financial incentives from day one will determine whether zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) can compete. To scale up production, drive investment, and accelerate the transition to ZNZ fuels, the industry needs clear, predictable regulations. Read the full article 👉 https://lnkd.in/dU-p-aCc

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) Net-Zero Framework must drive the transition towards decarbonized fuels to reach the climate targets. 🚢 🎯 To achieve the IMO’s ambitious decarbonization agenda, a clear business case for zero and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) is essential. 📝 The IMO is set to introduce historic regulations to drive the shipping industry towards net-zero. To succeed, these regulations must level the playing field for zero- and near-zero fuels (ZNZs) to compete with fossil fuels. ✅ Transitioning to ZNZ fuels must provide a positive business case for all parts of the value chain. IMO has the power to make ZNZ fuels a realistic alternative. Now it must act. ⚓
