🇸🇩 Sudan: an overlooked humanitarian catastrophe Two years ago, violent clashes broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital, Khartoum. Within days, the conflict spread to other parts of the country and in just two years, Sudan was plunged into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Thousands of lives lost. Millions displaced. Famine and cholera are spreading. In figures, this means: 👉 2 years of armed conflict, 👉 11.3 million internally displaced people, 👉 3.9 million refugees in neighboring countries, notably Chad 🇹🇩, South Sudan 🇸🇸 and Egypt 🇪🇬, 👉 24.6 million people facing high levels of acute food insecurity, 👉 30 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, 👉 17 million children deprived of schooling. Switzerland 🇨🇭 supports the people of #Sudan 🇸🇩 and calls for respect for international humanitarian law #IHL and the protection of civilians. 🇨🇭 works towards achieving a ceasefire and rapid and unimpeded humanitarian access. #PSEAH #StopSEAH #SDC #ForumTheatre #IFAD #FAO #WFP #TheatreForChange #Awareness #InclusiveWorkplaces
Curious to see how forum theatre can spark dialogue and drive change? 💬 🎭 On March 20, Switzerland organized an interactive theatre performance at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), joining forces with the three #Rome-based United Nations agencies (FAO, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and World Food Programme) to raise awareness on sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment. 🎥 Here’s a short #video recap of last Thursday’s event. 🇨🇭#Switzerland has continuously reaffirmed its commitment throughout the years. We have developed specific guidelines to help ensure the safety of beneficiaries, staff, and partner organizations. 🙏 A warm thank you to everyone who contributed to the organization and success of this event. #PSEAH #ZeroTolerance #Swiss #Switzerland #StopSEAH #ForumTheatre #IFAD #FAO #WFP #Awareness #TheatreForChange Direction du développement et de la coopération,International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), FAO, World Food Programme, Gerardine Mukeshimana, Berkis Patricia Perez, Maria Fernanda Miranda Munoz, Isabelle Robin, Luca Rotondo, Andrea Siclari, Rafaella Simonetti ©IFAD/Marco Salustro

The last programme launched! 🇨🇭🤝🇸🇰 Yesterday the Swiss-Slovak Health Programme was launched in Trenčín. The Swiss Ambassador Peter Nelson and Minister of Investments Samuel Migaľ (Ministerstvo investícií, regionálneho rozvoja a informatizácie SR) ceremonially signed the Support Measure Agreement allowing thus the programme to start. The aim of the program, with an allocation of almost 16 million euros, is to strengthen the prevention of non-communicable diseases and health promotion in Slovakia. The opening conference was attended by various stakeholders from ministries, public health authorities, self-government regions, municipalities and NGOs. The expected results of the programme are not only more effective prevention and health promotion, but also a long-term improvement in the health literacy of the population. Valuable Swiss expertise from the field of the health promotion will be shared by RADIX Gesunde Schulen (Radix - The Swiss Heath Foundation) and two Swiss cantons - Kanton Solothurn and Kanton Zürich. Two calls for proposals will be launched at a later stage, we will keep you updated!

Patricia Danzi attended a visit of representatives from European partner states and highlighted: “This is a great opportunity to start the dialogue with countries that are willing to explore new ways of international cooperation.” #SwissContribution #Partnerships #Innovation
Reflecting on an Inspiring Week of Innovation and Collaboration 🇨🇭 💡🚀 As we wrap up the #SeminarWeek organized under the Second Swiss Contribution to selected EU Member States, we reflect on inspiring dialogues and insights shared. State Secretary Helene Budliger Artieda reminds us, “We see a cohesion within Europe that is based on shared values, voluntary and mutually beneficial cooperation, and common challenges to be addressed.” This sentiment echoed throughout the week as we witnessed the power of interdisciplinary #collaboration, #innovation across borders, and sustainable #partnerships. Over the course of the week, participants had the opportunity to: 🔬 Discuss innovation with Empa, a leader in cutting-edge materials and technology research 🔬 Reflect on innovative research with the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), recognized for its groundbreaking work in natural and engineering sciences 🏛️ We also had a valuable chance to dive into Switzerland’s political system in the Swiss Parliament, where we discussed direct democracy, stakeholder involvement, and the dynamic political landscape surrounding the EU. Thank you to all our participants and partners for making this week a success.🤝🌍 Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation #SwissContribution #EMPA #PSI #Partnerships #Innovation

"Financing disaster risk reduction is not just about the money. It’s about how we invest hand in hand with the first responders and the people most vulnerable to disasters—finding smarter, more connected ways to protect lives. Digitalisation plays a key role too." Patricia Danzi, Director General of SDC, addressed the topic of “Transforming DRR policy priorities into concrete financing initiatives and implementation on the ground” at the Oslo Policy Forum on Financing for DRR. United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) #FinancingForDRR #PolicyInAction
Disaster risk reduction is an investment in the future. 🌀We can break the vicious disaster – recovery – repeat cycle. How? 📈By boosting efficiency and development – with disaster risk integrated into public finance. 💪By empowering vulnerable countries to invest in high-impact resilience-building measures. We must build resilience together, for the planet, for the people, for the future. 🌟 💡This week in Oslo, the High-Level Forum on Accelerated Disaster Risk Reduction Financing to Build Resilience will focus on mobilizing the necessary financing and political will to invest in a disaster-free future.
