What an inspiring two days at the EPFL Sustainable Innovation Challenge 2025! ♻️ We had the pleasure of joining this event at the Rolex Learning center - Epfl in Lausanne, where academia, startups, and industry came together to tackle sustainability challenges. It was a great opportunity to showcase KUORI’s materials and exchange ideas with future innovators. Jährlich entstehen in Deutschland zwischen 60.000 und 100.000 Tonnen Reifenabrieb – das entspricht etwa 1.000 Gramm pro Person. Damit macht Reifenabrieb rund ein Drittel aller #Mikroplastik-Emissionen in Deutschland aus. Angesichts von über 70 Millionen Fahrzeugen inklusive Anhängern im Jahr 2023 wird klar, dass wir dringend neue Materiallösungen brauchen so Dr. med. Eckart von Hirschhausen. Weiter - 10.000 Teile stecken in einem Auto, die Mehrheit nicht zirkulär – mit dieser Aussage machte Christiane Benner, Vorsitzende von IG Metall beim Cradle to Cradle NGO (C2C NGO) Congress 2025 in Berlin deutlich es gibt noch einiges zu tun. Gestern und heute haben wir beim C2C intensiv darüber diskutiert, wie wir #Materialien in sinnvollen #Kreisläufen halten können und müssen – sei es in der Automobilbranche, der Konsumgüterindustrie oder in der Elektronik. Der Handlungsbedarf ist enorm: sortenreine Trennbarkeit, Reduktion von Materialvielfalt und Emissionen und bessere Standards für recycelte und kompostierbare Materialien sind nur einige der zentralen Themen. Doch gleichzeitig sehen wir: Die Lösungen sind da - jetzt müssen wir sie konsequent umsetzen! Heute durfte ich im Panel „Kunststoffe und Verpackungen: Definiert, gesund, kreislauffähig“ mit KUORI über ein Positivbespiel in der Material Kreislaufwirtschaft berichten. Gemeinsam mit 🐴 Dr. Philipp Hummel, schleich® 🐸 Timothy Glaz, Werner & Mertz GmbH 🔖 Dr. Alexander von Niessen, CHOCAL Packaging Solutions ging es beispielsweise über toxische Druckmaterialien und die Herausforderungen bei der Skalierung von #Naturmaterialien. Moderiert wurde das Panel von Katja Hansen.
