Value+ Strategy: Scaling Smarter, Not Harder, with the Right Tech 🚀" Always great to be back in #NYC 🗽, at some of my favorite places, surrounded by some of my favorite people! I’ve had the privilege of knowing A Monty Hall for years, and he’s been both an ally and a friend. His insights, particularly in smart technology and its role in scaling businesses, have been invaluable, shaping some of the perspectives I carry forward today.🔑 During our time together while I was at Amazon Web Services (AWS), I saw firsthand how technology is not just a tool—it’s the backbone of scaling. That experience has shaped how we think about investing and building at Waterpoint Lane. 💡 Leading firms like Blackstone have long set a high standard for strategic growth equity. We try to take a similar disciplined approach to empower the next generation of market leaders. 🚀 🚀 Why Technology Diligence is Essential in Our Value+ Strategy: ✔️ Scalability from Day 1 – The right technology stack enables companies to grow sustainably. 📈 ✔️ Competitive Moat – Proprietary technology is not just a differentiator; it’s often a key to long-term success. 🛡️ ✔️ Efficiency & Profitability – Automation and AI-driven solutions can unlock new operational efficiencies and improve margins. 🤖💰 ✔️ Adaptability & Future-Proofing – We focus on companies that are not only built for the present but positioned for long-term success. 🔮 Smart investments are about building resilience and scalability from the ground up. Thoughtful technology diligence ensures that companies are equipped with the infrastructure needed for sustainable growth, while strategic execution drives long-term impact. 🏗️ True #valuecreation occurs where innovation, operational excellence, and a strategic understanding of scalability intersect. 🌍 No #goldenhour this time 😞 but the view was still spectacular! 🌆 #CenturionNYC #ScalingSmart #ValuePlus #TechDiligence #InvestingInTheFuture #FutureOfTech #AI #Automation

“Miami is the capital of Latin America.” 🇲🇽🇧🇷🇦🇷🇨🇴 I’ve heard this line so many times. But after kicking off the VC LatAm Summit 2025 during Miami Climate Week, I get it. This city is a magnet for global investors, founders, and changemakers shaping the future of sustainability and agrifoodtech in Latin America. A few numbers that should make every investor pay attention: 🔥 16% of global food exports come from LatAm—but food demand is set to rise 80% by 2050. 💰 $1.7B raised by LatAm agrifoodtech startups in 2022 (up from <$1B in 2018). 🌎 40% of global biodiversity + nearly 50% of the world’s forests sit in this region. ♻️ Sustainable bond issuance projected to hit $40-45B in 2025. And #Miami? It’s the launchpad. 📍 1,200 multinational HQs for LatAm ops. 📍 80 consulates (5th highest in the U.S.). Huge thanks to Kristin Eckert & Alesia Salvatierra for getting me immersed in this dynamic community. 🙌 And of course, Ricardo Beller for hosting us in style! This week is packed with #investors, #founders, and #policymakers shaping the next era of LatAm’s impact on the global food system. Time to brush up on my Spanish…😉 Here’s to new friends and exciting connections! Who’s ready to dive into these game-changing opportunities? Let’s connect and build the future! 🚀🔥 #LatAmVC #MiamiClimateWeek #ImpactInvesting #SustainableFinance #Agrifoodtech #WomenInVC #FutureOfFood

🇨🇦 Canada’s $18.8 Billion Food Innovation Opportunity! 🚀🍽️ The Ontario Genomics event this week underscored a powerful reality: Canada is emerging as a global leader in agrifoodtech innovation. Addressing food security is a global imperative. Solving this challenge requires bold investments, breakthrough technologies, and visionary founders. Ontario Genomics is spearheading this transformation at the intersection of biotechnology, agriculture, and food production—accelerating innovations that will define the future of food. From precision fermentation to alternative proteins and bio-based food processing, this ecosystem is laying the groundwork for a more sustainable and resilient food system. We are proud to stand alongside industry leaders in driving this transformation. 🚀 My Co-Managing Partner Ben Gibbons was at the forefront of the event, engaging with global leaders, scientists, investors, and institutions to take meaningful action on this urgent issue. 🚀 Key Insights from the Event: 🔹 $4.1B invested in Canadian agrifoodtech over the past decade 🔹 49.5% CAGR in plant-based food innovation 🔹 60+ companies advancing alternative protein solutions 🔹 26% of Canada’s agrifoodtech ecosystem is focused on plant-based innovation—nearly double the global average With the potential to reduce global food insecurity for 350 million people, the need for capital, innovation, and leadership has never been greater. The economic landscape suggests that consumers may face continued pressure on grocery budgets in 2025, with some food categories seeing substantial price increases. The time to act is NOW. The market is shifting, and the next decade will be defined by the bold choices we make today. Let’s invest in the #futureoffood and build a more sustainable, secure world together. 🌍 💪 Sylvia Cesaratto Ontario Genomics Evan Fraser Lenore Newman Waterpoint Lane Farm Credit Canada (FCC) Farm Credit Canada (Corporate Office) BDC #GlobalFoodSecurity #Agrifoodtech #InvestingInInnovation #SustainableInvesting #WaterpointLane #OntarioGenomics

Looking forward to seeing more outstanding women of color represented in boardrooms—there’s still work to be done, and every voice matters! Thank you for being an ally David Chun! #DiversityInLeadership #BoardroomEquity #LeadershipMatters #InclusiveLeadership #RepresentationMatters #WomenOnBoards #LeadByExample #EquityAndInclusion

I’m excited to rejoin the selection committee for 50/50 Women on Boards 2025 Top 50 Women to Watch! It's truly an honor and also an opportunity to reflect on the learnings from my personal journey in business. As a Korean American immigrant, I’ve often been the “only” in the room.  That sentiment managed to grow over the last decade, as I’ve had the privilege of working with countless women's leadership groups, finding myself the single male in attendance. Ladies, I know how you feel! For a while, being the “only” played into my insecurities. When our family landed in Rutherford, NJ in the late 1960s after the passage of the Immigration Act, we were not easily integrated into the community. It took a while to get in the door, and even longer to find a voice. But one day it clicked: If you were the “only," it was easier for others to remember your contributions to the discussion. Being the "only" became a distinction. It goes without saying that it’s a challenging environment for diversity initiatives. That’s why it’s more important than ever to raise our game. The goal, of course, is equity. At Equilar, we’ve seen firsthand the impact of diverse leadership in the boardroom, and I’m proud to support this important effort to spotlight talented women shaping the future of corporate governance. If you're an "only," seize the moment and lean in. It’s up to you to prepare and be remembered as the talented individual who, by the way, happened to be diverse and unique in the room that day. And if you’re one of many, amplify the voices around you to help ensure every perspective is heard. Looking forward to collaborating with the incredible committee and celebrating the next generation of boardroom leaders! #IWD25 #5050WOB #WomenOnBoards #Leadership #CorporateGovernance #DEI

With International Women's Day 2025 upon us, I reflected this morning on both third party initiatives as well as my own personal contributions to the world in which my daughter is growing up into. 🤔 While there are many reasons to feel like the challenges are as large as ever, I feel buoyed by the role models my daughter can look to, from my wife Kar Ng, CPA, CA to my business partner Meifan Shi (史美帆) - who demonstrate daily that the theme of #IWD2025 - being #AccelerateAction - will result in great things for all us and especially my daughter. 🙌

🏆 Strategic Investing: Lessons from the NFL and Venture Capital Excellence Sustained success—whether in professional sports or venture investing—requires more than just talent. It demands strategic capital deployment, disciplined execution, and a long-term vision to build enduring value. The most successful franchises don’t just compete; they create scalable systems that generate sustained enterprise growth. The National Football League (NFL) serves as a compelling case study in investment strategy, where leadership, asset optimization, and brand expansion drive outsized returns. From Jerry Jones, whom I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, transforming the Dallas Cowboys into a $9B+ business empire, to Tom Brady’s meticulous approach to investment, the parallels between elite sports management and venture capital are striking. 🏈 The Dallas Cowboys: A Case Study in Scalable Growth Under Jerry Jones' leadership, the Cowboys have become the most valuable sports franchise globally, exemplifying principles critical to high-impact investing: 💰 Strategic Asset Deployment – Transforming Jones AT&T Stadium into a multi-purpose revenue-generating asset beyond football. 🌎 Brand and Market Positioning – Establishing dominant sponsorships, media rights, and commercial partnerships to enhance global brand equity. 📈 Operational Optimization & Expansion – Leveraging real estate, digital media, and corporate partnerships to drive sustained enterprise value. 🏆 Tom Brady: A Disciplined Approach to Investing Brady, who recently spoke at the Global Fund Finance Symposium in #Miami, has transitioned from elite athlete to strategic investor, applying the same rigorous decision-making and long-term thinking that defined his playing career: ⚡ Sustainability & Innovation – Championing all-electric powerboat racing as owner of Team Brady in the E1 Series. 🔗 Investing in Disruptive Technologies – Co-founding Autograph, a Web3 company focused on digital asset monetization. 📊 Portfolio Diversification – Expanding into private equity, health & wellness, and media investments. 🏋️ Scaling High-Growth Ventures – Developing TB12 into a global wellness and performance brand. Investors take a similarly strategic and disciplined approach to venture investing: ✔️ We identify and back transformational businesses at the intersection of technology, health, and sustainability. ✔️ We deploy capital strategically, ensuring scalability and long-term market positioning. ✔️ We optimize growth through hands-on engagement, leveraging our network, operational expertise, and industry insights. Long-term #valuecreation requires more than capital—it demands vision, precision, and execution at scale. Which investment strategies do you believe drive sustained competitive advantage?
