For over 23 years, Mark Mattson has used his expertise as an environmental lawyer to start a movement for swimmable, drinkable and fishable water and has held industry and individuals accountable for pollution. His community impact has been felt with over 2 billion dollars invested in the restoration of water quality around the Great Lakes. As a member of the IJC’s Water Quality Board, and Great Lakes Guardians, Mark has been an influential voice in the decision of the past, present and future of the Great Lakes. At one point yesterday, I was literally surrounded by all of Toronto’s 💩 — and yet I couldn’t wipe the goofy grin off my face. It was a big day for Water Canada as we hosted two meaningful industry events. In the afternoon, we welcomed students, early career professionals, and experts to the Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant for a tour and speed networking session — my baby, Downstream. After that, we hiked a few blocks north to Rorschach Brewing Co , where we joined water industry friends for a fundraising event in support of Operators Without Borders. It feels so good to give back to the community we love. I'm also incredibly grateful to work for an organization like Actual Media Inc. that empowers us to create meaningful experiences like this.
