A year and a half ago, we connected with David Bradshaw 🤝—formerly the VP of Client Care at ATB Financial 💰🏦—and Bontu Galataa, MBA, an Entrepreneur Strategist. From the very first conversation, it was clear that our values aligned ❤️. Together, we asked ourselves: 💭 How can we create meaningful change? 💭 What does real community impact look like? 💭 How do we provide resources for at-risk youth, including those in the justice system and newcomer youth? This journey led us to Michael Felix and his team, who witnessed our program in action at CYOC from ATB’s 8 Ave Place branch. That moment set everything in motion. The Impact in Place initiative began to take shape, conversations deepened, and soon, we connected with Quentin Sinclair, MBA, a visionary leader committed to making a difference. During key discussions, we explored: ➡ How do we create sustainable opportunities for at-risk youth? ➡ What role does leadership play in driving long-term change? Driven by these conversations, we took a leap of faith 🏃🏾♂💨, submitting an application in December 📝⏳. Our conversation explored the challenges faced by at-risk, vulnerable, and marginalized BIPOC youth, with a particular emphasis on NEET youth—those who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training. The statistics highlighted the urgent need for innovative, community-driven solutions. Through this connection, we discovered the transformative work of PMAST—an organization with a 25-year legacy of empowering youth through conflict management and leadership development. 🏆 Their Youth Legacy Project in Airdrie serves as a beacon of hope, equipping youth in both Airdrie and Calgary with the skills to navigate conflicts and foster stronger, more resilient communities.
