  • Spotted: One of the 150 SickKids Balloon Sculptures has made its way to BMO Toronto headquarters! 🎈📍 BMO unveiled their Balloon at an employee engagement event last week, attended by our President and CEO, Jennifer Bernard, BMO’s Group Head of Wealth Management, Deland Kamanga, and SickKids Patient Ambassador and Foundation staff member, Brianna Buckle. Brianna was born with a rare congenital heart defect and because The Hospital for Sick Children had offered training to physicians in her regional hospital, she received the care and referral to SickKids she needed right away. Brianna underwent five surgeries before the age of 10 and has been surgery-free for over a decade! 👏 It’s through training programs like the one at Brianna’s local hospital or Kids Health Alliance (KHA) - a network of community partners committed to advancing excellence and expertise in paediatric care across Ontario, that kids are treated with the highest standard of care regardless of where they live. Thank you, BMO for your support of SickKids 150th Birthday and for your ongoing commitment to the Kids Health Alliance. #SickKids150

  • Just months before turning two, Leena was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. It wasn’t the birthday her family had imagined — but at The Hospital for Sick Children, it became a day filled with strength, love, and hope. ✨🎂 “The dedication of the doctors and nurses has allowed our daughter to continue fighting and have a chance at celebrating her future birthdays,” says her mom, Aneesa. As we continue to celebrate SickKids turning 150, we'll be sharing more stories from brave young patients, like Leena, who’ve spent their birthdays in the Hospital. 💙 Stay tuned. 🎈 📹: @theresilientpalm on Instagram

  • A BIG birthday calls for a LITTLE SickKids! 🎈 We're so excited to unveil a special birthday gift from our friends at Little Canada! Little SickKids is comprised of two of the buildings that make up The Hospital for Sick Children's campus – The Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning, and the Slaight Family Atrium. This addition to the Little Toronto skyline also marks Little Canada’s very first little hospital! 🥳 Stay tuned for more little surprises coming soon!! 👀 #SickKids150

  • A program like no other! The Breakthrough Fund is celebrating five incredible years of impact - turning SickKids-led research discoveries into commercial projects providing real-world health benefits and investment opportunities.     From being pitched early-stage research proposals to invest in, to going on behind-the-scenes tours of SickKids research labs, being part of the Breakthrough Fund grants members greater access to the latest and most advanced medical discoveries happening at SickKids.     “The Breakthrough Fund has given me a role to play in bringing world-changing innovations to life - innovations that will radically impact the future of children's health. What could be better than that?” says co-chair, Stacey Kline.     In five years, the Breakthrough Fund has raised more than $2.8 million for 12 SickKids-led research projects, with Dr. Maryse Bouchard’s Novel Dynamic Clubfoot Brace Treatment now standing on the cusp of commercialization. The program is looking to expand its reach, and now thanks to a generous sponsor, up to six new members to the Breakthrough Fund could have their first year of investments matched – doubling their impact.    “Being part of the Breakthrough Fund has been one of the most meaningful experiences for our family. Supporting SickKids in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in children’s health is deeply personal — we know the impact this work has not just on the kids, but on entire families. It’s a privilege to play even a small role in helping fuel the breakthroughs that give every child a fighting chance,” says founding member, Nicole Tapscott.     If you or a member of your network is interested in joining the Breakthrough Fund, or would like to attend an upcoming recruitment event, please contact breakthroughfund@sickkidsfoundation.com for more information.

  • Yalman was rushed to SickKids within an hour of his birth. Arriving two weeks premature, he was born with a number of complications and had trouble breathing on his own. He was the first ventilated patient in the country to undergo imaging in a NICU MRI. The Hospital for Sick Children is so proud to share that it is the first paediatric hospital in Canada to have a specialized neonatal MRI system inside its Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). For patients like Yalman, the installation of this system means reducing the risks associated with moving babies in critical condition, as they no longer need to be transported to the basement level of the Hospital and can now undergo imaging scans without ever leaving the NICU. We want to extend our sincerest thanks to the community of loyal and determined donors who, over the past decade, have never wavered in their commitment to making this innovation possible. This equipment and new standard of care will make an incredible impact on the lives of the smallest SickKids patients and their families. Thank you. 💙
