Right To Play protects, educates and empowers children to rise.

About us

PLAY. It’s at the heart of everything we do. It educates, empowers and protects girls and boys, allowing them to be successful in their own learning and development, and prepares them for their future. We believe in a future for every child driven by opportunity, empowerment and possibility. With programming in over 18 countries, we transform the lives of more than one million children each week inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to our work with children, we advocate with parents, local communities, and governments to advance the fundamental rights of all children. Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Canada with programs in Africa and Asia, the Middle East and North America in both development and humanitarian contexts.

  • Investing in girls' education creates a ripple effect that transforms communities. When a girl's literacy is supported, it opens doors to educational and professional opportunities that were previously inaccessible. However, many girls are denied access to education, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality. By prioritizing aid and ensuring access to education, we empower girls to claim their rights and become catalysts for change. Educated girls are more likely to advocate for their rights, make informed decisions about their lives, and become leaders who drive progress for future generations. Supporting girls' education is an investment in a brighter, more equitable world for all. #AidWorks

  • When teachers use play intentionally in their lessons, children connect with their learning in a way that is comfortable and familiar to them. Play-based learning takes the regular characteristics of play, but uses them with a purpose, helping children to understand and retain lessons on a deeper level. For 25 years, we’ve been harnessing the power of play to support children’s education and development. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gu3-Vyy7 #RightToPlay #PlayBased #PlayBasedLearning #PowerOfPlay

Introducing the Thriving Through Play project! We're excited to launch this comprehensive program aimed at enhancing the well-being and resilience of children through innovative play-based methods. Operating in Uganda, this initiative focuses on supporting children's health and social-emotional skills as they transition from pre-primary to primary education. Why is this important? Children's psychosocial well-being is crucial for their holistic development and mental health. By integrating play into mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs, we aim to create a safe and engaging environment where children can thrive. Our outcome areas include: · Strengthening parent-child and teacher-child relationships  · Supporting children to develop coping strategies and self-regulation  · Enhancing social-emotional learning and psychosocial well-being Thriving Through Play is made possible thanks to the support of The LEGO Foundation Right To Play

🎭 #SHARE Drama Excerpt - Bolgatanga 🎭 Excited to share a snippet from a powerful drama performed by mentees under the school-based mentorship program in the Kassena Nankana district, Upper East Region. This took place during the #SHARE Project Steering Committee meeting last week. With guidance from their teachers and mentors, the mentees brought to life a drama script developed by us, drawing insights from the "SCHOOL HEALTH CLUB MENTORSHIP MANUAL FOR ADOLESCENT GIRLS AND BOYS". A true showcase of learning and creativity in action! #YouthEmpowerment #Mentorship #RightToPlayGhana #UpperEastRegion

Giving girls agency through sports ⚽ Girls and young women in Senegal face many constraints on their personal agency, from forced marriage and early pregnancy to the unequal burden of household chores, which keeps girls out of school and the workforce. Sport offers one way to empower girls and build their self-esteem. In Senegal, the Renforcement des Capacités des Filles par le Sport et le Jeu (RECAF-Jeu) project creates opportunities for girls and young women to participate in sports, develop life skills, transcend boundaries, and claim the future they choose. ASICS has been supporting this project plus others in Uganda, Ghana and Mozambique through our partnership with NPO Right To Play, which protects, educates and empowers children to rise above adversity using the power of play. ASICS was founded in 1949 to promote sport as a way of developing the physical and mental health of impoverished youth in post-war Japan. The world may have changed, but our purpose remains the same. • Every child deserves to have their health respected and protected. But around the world, too many young people don’t have access to the health information, support, and services they need to make informed choices about their bodies and their health.   On #WorldHealthDay and everyday, we work with educators, coaches, parents, and communities to support young people to learn about their health and build the knowledge and confidence they need to make decisions about their bodies. We also empower youth to fight discrimination and create safe spaces where they can learn about their health and rights.   Your support is critical. Donate today.

  • Sport is more than just a game. It’s a powerful force for bringing people together and fostering peace in the world. Playing creates safe spaces for children to engage and interact. Something as simple as a game of football creates common ground and a sense of equality, levelling the playing field by breaking down complex social barriers, promoting teamwork and creating acceptance around differences such as gender, race and religion. For 25 years, we’ve understood the transformative power of sport and have been champions for every child’s right to play. On International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, join us in this celebration. #SportIsMore #SportForDevelopment #SportForPeace #PowerOfPlay #PowerOfSport  #IDSDP #sports #ChildrensSports #SportForHealing #SportsForConfidence #SportsForLeadership #Leadership #Confidence #Teamwork #Team #TeamPlay
