Right To Play protects, educates and empowers children to rise.

About us

PLAY. It’s at the heart of everything we do. It educates, empowers and protects girls and boys, allowing them to be successful in their own learning and development, and prepares them for their future. We believe in a future for every child driven by opportunity, empowerment and possibility. With programming in over 18 countries, we transform the lives of more than one million children each week inside and outside of the classroom. In addition to our work with children, we advocate with parents, local communities, and governments to advance the fundamental rights of all children. Right To Play is headquartered in Toronto, Canada with programs in Africa and Asia, the Middle East and North America in both development and humanitarian contexts.

  • Happy #EarthDay!    At a Right To Play-supported primary school in Uganda, students have started an environment club. One exciting aspect of the club is an urban garden at their school, created using recycled materials. The garden is a living classroom where children can learn firsthand about environmental stewardship and the importance of protecting our planet.  As extreme weather conditions related to climate change intensify in many of the areas where we work, this kind of hands-on education is essential for ensuring children have the skills and knowledge to respond to environmental challenges. You can help foster a generation that is informed, engaged, and ready to make a positive impact on the environment by donating to Right To Play: https://lnkd.in/g3cWSsfb    #EarthDay #ClimateEducation #Sustainability #EnvironmentalStewardship #GreenInitiatives #RecycledMaterials #UrbanGardens #ChildAgency #ClimateAction #ProtectOurPlanet

  • Play is a powerful tool for encouraging creativity and innovation in children's learning. By using play in the classroom, children develop essential skills that help them think outside the box and approach problems with innovative solutions. On #WorldCreativityAndInnovationDay, we’re celebrating Chantina, a Grade 5 student in Rwanda who developed a smart irrigation system after participating in the Plug in Play program. Programs like Plug in Play are critical in helping kids build the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world, and it’s inspiring to see the ideas that children like Chantina come up with when they’re encouraged in their learning.

  • Freda’s classroom in Ghana has 77 students. How does she keep such a large class engaged? Play-based learning. By using songs, games and other play-based strategies, she’s helping her students to connect with their education and increase their retention and understanding of lessons. • Investing in girls' education creates a ripple effect that transforms communities. When a girl's literacy is supported, it opens doors to educational and professional opportunities that were previously inaccessible. However, many girls are denied access to education, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality. By prioritizing aid and ensuring access to education, we empower girls to claim their rights and become catalysts for change. Educated girls are more likely to advocate for their rights, make informed decisions about their lives, and become leaders who drive progress for future generations. Supporting girls' education is an investment in a brighter, more equitable world for all. #AidWorks

  • When teachers use play intentionally in their lessons, children connect with their learning in a way that is comfortable and familiar to them. Play-based learning takes the regular characteristics of play, but uses them with a purpose, helping children to understand and retain lessons on a deeper level. For 25 years, we’ve been harnessing the power of play to support children’s education and development. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gu3-Vyy7 #RightToPlay #PlayBased #PlayBasedLearning #PowerOfPlay

Introducing the Thriving Through Play project! We're excited to launch this comprehensive program aimed at enhancing the well-being and resilience of children through innovative play-based methods. Operating in Uganda, this initiative focuses on supporting children's health and social-emotional skills as they transition from pre-primary to primary education. Why is this important? Children's psychosocial well-being is crucial for their holistic development and mental health. By integrating play into mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programs, we aim to create a safe and engaging environment where children can thrive. Our outcome areas include: · Strengthening parent-child and teacher-child relationships  · Supporting children to develop coping strategies and self-regulation  · Enhancing social-emotional learning and psychosocial well-being Thriving Through Play is made possible thanks to the support of The LEGO Foundation Right To Play
