  • The Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario announced plans to partner with Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) and Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) to expand #hydroelectric generation to meet growing energy demand and support greater economic self-determination and prosperity. “For more than a century, nearly a quarter of Ontario’s power has come from clean hydroelectric energy,” said Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines. “As energy demand rises in Ontario, especially in the North, our government is taking action by supporting early development work for the provinces first expansion of large-scale hydroelectricity in decades. VP, Content & Partnerships | Helping B2B Organizations Share Critical Stories to Promote Water, Infrastructure and the Environment

At one point yesterday, I was literally surrounded by all of Toronto’s 💩 — and yet I couldn’t wipe the goofy grin off my face. It was a big day for Water Canada as we hosted two meaningful industry events. In the afternoon, we welcomed students, early career professionals, and experts to the Ashbridges Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant for a tour and speed networking session — my baby, Downstream. After that, we hiked a few blocks north to Rorschach Brewing Co , where we joined water industry friends for a fundraising event in support of Operators Without Borders. It feels so good to give back to the community we love. I'm also incredibly grateful to work for an organization like Actual Media Inc. that empowers us to create meaningful experiences like this. My cup is full 💙 Huge thanks to all the people and organizations who helped make these two special events possible. I'm pleased to share that BuildForce Canada has released its 2025–2034 Construction and Maintenance Looking Forward highlight reports. These reports offer critical insight into the labour market challenges and opportunities facing the construction industry across Canada over the next decade. From workforce retirements to regional trends in residential and non-residential activity, the data helps industry leaders, policymakers, educators, and workers prepare for the future. This year’s outlook highlights several key themes: - The industry will need to recruit 154,100 workers by 2034 to meet demand and replace retirees - Labour market imbalances remain in many regions, especially in the skilled trades - Employment among youth and women continues to rise, showing progress in workforce diversification These findings help ensure our industry remains informed, resilient, and ready to meet the needs of communities and the economy across Canada. The possibility of U.S.–Canada tariffs creates significant uncertainty for the construction industry, which relies heavily on cross-border trade for essential materials such as steel, aluminum, lumber, and machinery.  Stakeholders should be proactive by reviewing contracts, adjusting bids, diversifying supply chains, and tracking material costs to prepare for potential disruptions. Early planning and readiness can help manage challenges such as higher costs, delays, and labor shortages. Open communication with clients and suppliers, along with expert advice, will be essential to adapt to this evolving situation.
