New findings from UMass Memorial Medical Center mark a major step forward in bringing proactive brain health assessments into primary care. UMass primary care practitioners (PCPs) successfully integrated Linus Health’s Core Cognitive Evaluation (CCE) during routine visits, not by squeezing it into their workflow—but by establishing a new one that addressed a critical gap in brain health screening. The study, “Digital Assessment of Cognitive Health in Outpatient Primary Care: Usability Study,” published in JMIR Publications Formative Research by UMass Chan Medical School researchers, underscores how digital tools like the CCE can overcome time constraints that have historically limited cognitive assessments. These findings come at a pivotal moment: early diagnosis is now essential to access new Alzheimer’s therapies, and evidence continues to build around the benefits of early intervention for dementia prevention.
