At AOP Association of Online Publishers' Future Proofing Your Ad Stack, our own Nia Auguste joined Joel Livesey from The Trade Desk, Ben Price from Be Unskripted and Charlotte Seagers from Ozone | The premium audience platform to share insights on optimizing supply-side programmatic strategies—covering ad stack improvements, traffic shaping, and the growing importance of smarter QPS management. “We need to understand how to personalize QPS for every single DSP. There's the ML [machine learning] side of that, but also strategic and commercial alignment. We have to be really close to our DSPs. We have to understand what it is that they're looking for, and what their business models are,” Nia shared. With so much innovation happening in the industry, it’s clear that media owners and the broader sell side have a bigger role to play than ever. Thanks to AOP and all the panelists for a great discussion!

Great energy today at Digital Day Camp at our Toronto office! 🇨🇦 Index CEO Andrew Casale sat down with Rob Beeler to explore why the future of a free, ad-supported internet depends on sell-side decisioning—and how rebalancing the programmatic supply chain can unlock greater efficiency and value. "Think of a future of having really smart, decisioned, packaged, and curated opportunities ahead of time instead of sending opportunities into the ether and just hoping the buyer either finds or derives value," Andrew shared. Big thanks to Beeler.Tech for bringing together such an engaged audience and fostering important conversations on the future of #DigitalAdvertising. #DigitalDayCamp

Ad waste costs marketers billions each year. What if there was a better way to drive performance while reducing inefficiencies? AdExchanger’s Anthony Vargas spoke with Butler/Till and SWYM.ai about how the agency cut programmatic waste by focusing on highly performant inventory and high-value leads. By leveraging Index Marketplaces, SWYM.ai was able to train their algorithm on performance signals across the entire transaction—including sell-side signals from our robust, high-quality supply. “We’re identifying aspects of the bid requests that have performant characteristics—anything from domains to geos to ad sizes to device types to channels,” shared Andrew Altersohn, co-founder and president of SWYM.ai. Ad breaks in streaming TV aren’t one-size-fits-all. Media owners need flexibility to maximize revenue and maintain a great viewer experience. Enter: flexible podding. With OpenRTB 2.6, media owners can construct ad pods in three ways: 1️⃣ Structured pods: Fixed number of ads with set lengths 2️⃣ Dynamic pods: Flexible ad slots that a media owner can construct in real time 3️⃣ Hybrid pods: A mix of both, giving media owners flexibility in optimizing demand The podding features in OpenRTB 2.6 are critical to scaling programmatic #streamingTV, but that will only happen with industry-wide adoption and support. Live events push programmatic to its limits. Millions of concurrent viewers. Split-second ad decisions. Infrastructure that wasn’t originally built for this scale. In his conversation with Beet.TV, Rob Hazan, VP of product, streaming TV at Index, talks about the two biggest challenges with #LiveEventAdvertising: 1️⃣ Infrastructure – Live events happen at hyperscale, requiring real-time load balancing and network optimization to ensure every impression reaches DSPs without delay 2️⃣ Workflow – We need a standardized approach that allows DSPs and marketers to discover upcoming events, pre-register creatives, secure approvals, and ensure ads are properly transcoded for seamless integration into streams SSPs play a critical role in bridging these gaps, ensuring premium inventory is monetized effectively—while driving the industry toward standardized, scalable solutions. Watch the full interview below.
Scaling live-event advertising requires infrastructure and workflow innovations, Rob Hazan, vice president of product, streaming television, at ad-tech company Index Exchange, says in this interview at the Programmatic Activation Summit 2025.
