Myanmar is officially classified as a mass casualty situation following the catastrophic earthquake in central Myanmar. Over 77 aftershocks have occurred across Southeast Asia since the initial tremor on March 28 and are likely to continue. The region remains unstable, and NGOs are scaling up relief efforts in the affected areas. Crisis24 continues to monitor the situation closely. Reports of widespread damage and casualties from a magnitude-7.7 earthquake continue to rise in Southeast Asia. The quake affected northeastern India, Bangladesh, China, and Thailand. Myanmar reported fatalities and injuries, with significant infrastructure damage in Mandalay, Sagaing, Bago, Naypyidaw, and Shan State. Roads, bridges, and airports were impacted, causing power and communication outages. Thailand experienced severe impacts in Bangkok, with fatalities and some missing. Minor damage was reported in China, India, Bangladesh, and Laos. Aftershocks continue and authorities are conducting damage assessments and response operations.
