An inspiring evening recognizing the incredible contributions of healthcare professionals in our community. The stories shared were a powerful reminder of the impact compassionate, committed care has on patients and families. #HealthcareExcellence #CommunityCare #PCPs #FamilyDoctor #Ontario #OntarioHealth #OHT #OntarioHealthTeam
Family physician, leader, medical educator, researcher, & committed community member interested in contributing to a more caring, connected, just world.
As The College of Family Physicians of Canada | Le Collège des médecins de famille du Canada President I attend many award ceremonies. None could be more special than this past Tuesday night's celebration in Brampton, the community I have served for over 25 years. The Central West Ontario Health Team, the Ontario College of Family Physicians and William Osler Health System came together to celebrate family doctors whose patients shared how their doctor has gone above and beyond for them. The room was full of pride, joy, and mutual respect as we listend to Jobin V. share stories of our special Brampton community of family physicians. There were honoured guests like Hon. Charmaine Williams and Deepak Anand, community leaders like Frank and MD Teresa Chan, and oh so many talented, committed family doctors. Brampton family doctors truly are superstars. I had a lump in my throat the entire night.

To highlight the essential role of family physicians, we asked Ontarians to tell us how their family doctor has gone above and beyond for them. In response, we received over 750 heartwarming submissions, including more than 30 from the catchment area of the Central West Ontario Health Team. Last night, alongside OCFP President, Jobin V. and President-Elect Eric Wong, MD MClSc (FM) CCFP FCFP CFD COI CPP and , I had the pleasure of presenting 23 of those family physicians with a certificate of recognition for the outstanding care they provide. As a resident of Brampton, it was incredibly special to celebrate these physicians who live and work in my community. Thank you to Hon. Charmaine Williams, Deepak Anand, and the teams at the Central West Ontario Health Team and William Osler Health System for organizing this event and recognizing the dedication and care of family physicians. Family physicians are the foundation of our health care system, and every Ontarian should have access to one. To all family physicians across the province, thank you for the essential role you play in the health of your patients and communities!
We asked Ontarians a simple question: 'tell us how your family doctor has gone above for you.' We heard from more than 750 patients the province, including Andree Decoste of Brampton who shared how her family physician, Dr. Christopher Veenema has supported and coordinated care for her and her son following a catastrophic head on collision. Read more about Dr. Veenema's compassionate care and how family physicians are essential to the health of Ontarians. https://lnkd.in/gNfYdvBW

Today is the International Day of Pink – a day to stand up against bullying, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia in all their forms. As we advocate for safe and inclusive spaces, we’re also shining a light on the barriers youth face when accessing mental health services. 🧠💬 We conducted a review of current gaps, and this infographic highlights the key findings — from long wait times and lack of culturally relevant care to challenges faced by 2SLGBTQIA+ and immigrant youth. Together, we can build more supportive, accessible, and inclusive mental health systems for all youth. 💗 📍 Check out the full infographic below to learn more and see how we can all be part of the solution. #DayOfPink #MentalHealthMatters #YouthVoices #EquityInCare #2SLGBTQIA #CommunitySupport #EndTheStigma #OHT #OntarioHealthTeam CANES Community Care Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) Central Brampton Family Health Team Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin Ontario Health | Santé Ontario Ontario Health atHome Dorothy Ley Hospice ESS Support Services (Etobicoke Services for Seniors) Hospice Mississauga Holland Christian Homes Humber College North Peel Family Health Team Peel Addiction Assessment and Referral Centre Peel Senior Link Peel Senior Link Punjabi Community Health Services Queen Square Family Health Team Region of Peel Rexdale Community Health Centre Richview Community Care Services Corporation Services and Housing In the Province (SHIP) Sienna Senior Living WellFort Community Health Services William Osler Health System Woodbine Family Health Team
