C-FER’s Wayne Klaczek, MSc, MBA, PEng discusses the pipeline and structural integrity group at C-FER Technologies. Wayne highlights the group's focus on pipeline integrity, circumferential stress, corrosion cracking, constant pipeline repair methodologies, and leak detection. 🔍 Key Features: Hydrogen Transition: Alberta is well-positioned to take advantage of the hydrogen transition due to its reservoirs, existing infrastructure, and methane production capabilities. C-FER is helping pipeline operators assess the impact of blended hydrogen in pipelines. Current Projects: C-FER is working with an operator to assess leaks from existing infrastructure when blended hydrogen is mixed with methane through full-scale experimental testing and validation of new models. Leak Detection and Hydrogen: C-FER’s ELDER apparatus was built with pipeline operators to test leak detection technologies by simulating buried pipelines. ELDER has been retrofitted to study hydrogen blends and their stratification in the soil. Visit C-FER, Alberta Innovates, and InnoTech Alberta at booth 318 at the Canadian Hydrogen Convention.
