The European Research and Innovation Support (ERIS) team supports researchers in developing their proposals for Horizon Europe as well as non-framework programmes implementing its unique i-ISO concept, covering identifying new programmes and calls, Informing the researchers about these calls, Stimulating them to apply by pre-selecting the right calls and guiding them towards funding for proposal development and giving full support in co-development of the proposal, both at admin/budget as well as scientific content level. i = iDENTIFY new EU funding programmes and calls I= INFORM VUB research groups about programmes and calls S= STIMULATE by reducing barriers to apply for EU funding O= ONDERSTEUNEN(SUPPORT) in the path towards submission

Each year, millions of electronic devices are thrown away. 💻📱 Tons of this #ewaste end up being illegally dumped in informal recycling sites in countries like Nigeria, where people living and working near these sites are exposed to toxic substances every single day 😷 Chukwuebuka Eze (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) is investigating how these chemicals specifically affect the liver. 🧫 Using cell culture models and pathway analyses, he studies how toxins from contaminated soil interact with liver cells — and how that exposure can lead to long-term organ damage over time. But despite modern technology, flood forecasting remains a serious challenge. That’s why Vincent Ogembo, Ph.D, G.E, PMP. (Vrije Universiteit Brussel), is developing an 'Integrated Water Balance Model'. By combining satellite data 📡, water movement in and out of the lake, 💧 his model helps forecast flood volumes and predict risk all the way to 2100!
