🎶 Straight from the land of Fado… comes a ticket to seamless travel! 💳 🇵🇹 In 2022, Fertagus became Lisbon’s first rail operator to enable open-loop payment. One year later, Lisbon Metro joined in, making mobility easier than ever for passengers to tap and ride using their contactless EMV cards. 🚆 🚇 Last year, we spoke with Raquel Santos, Commercial Director at Fertagus, who reflected on the journey so far. She shared that the experience since launch has been largely positive. Passengers have embraced the convenience of contactless payments, and Fertagus has even seen an increase in ridership, thanks to the #ease, #accessibility, and #flexibility offered by open-loop systems. 📖 Read the full interview 👉 https://lnkd.in/dhpZHAy9 🔎 And explore other testimonials on our website: https://lnkd.in/dKphiP3x 💬 What about your city? ☁️ We all know that #AirPollution is a major environmental health threat and one of the main risks for noncommunicable diseases. ✅ So let's ensure public transport is front and centre as a crucial part of the solution. 🤝 As a proud partner of the World Health Organization, UITP recently joined the Second Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health, in Cartagena, Colombia from 25-27 March 2025. ⚠️ A growing and consistent body of evidence shows that, globally, air pollution is responsible for about 7 million premature deaths per year. 💬 “When we invest in public transport, we invest in better air quality, green jobs, and cities that work for all. The science is as clear as our skies should be. The time to act is now!" - J. Dionisio González, UITP Director of Advocacy & Outreach 🌱 The path forward is obvious: we can safeguard public health and protect our planet for future generations, by prioritising sustainable transport solutions. #BreatheLife | Maria Neira | TRANSCARIBE S.A.

🗣 "We need ambition! And we also need engagement and collaboration. Two of my most favoured words." 👏 UITP President, Renée Amilcar, continues to be one of public transport's biggest advocates. 💡 Recently, the President provided her insights at two high-level gatherings, featuring experts and stakeholders from the sector and beyond. 🌍 At the EnviroCentre Transit Symposium focusing on transforming Ottawa’s transit system, Renée noted that in order to make positive changes to the public transport landscape, we need to hear different perspectives and engage in healthy discussions. 👥 At this event, the President addressed community members, local leaders, business representatives, and experts in the local transport field. 💬 Following this, she continued her conversations on the importance of a more diverse and equitable sector, the impact of her own career, and the strategic direction of our association to strengthen our sector's future, at a special event hosted for her by the International Women's Forum Canada in #Montreal. 🙏 Thanks to both organisations for continuing the conversation! #Engagement | #PublicTransport | #UrbanMobility
