  • We had an inspiring time this week at DATE 2025 in Lyon, France, where NanoIC pilot line showcased its groundbreaking contributions to European innovation. ☑️ Our project coordinator, Inge Asselberghs, joined a stellar panel to discuss the progress and future of the EU Chips Act. This initiative is set to revolutionize the European industry, and we're proud to be part of this journey by accelerating beyond-2nm chip technologies. ☑️ Giuseppe Fiorentino presented how the NanoIC pilot line specifically is contributing to this goal. By offering early-stage process design kits (PDKs) to academia and industry, we're lowering the threshold to innovation and enabling the exploration of beyond-2nm systems-on-chip (SoC) technologies.   • In a recent Nature Reviews Electrical Engineering publication, imec's Attilio Belmonte and Gouri Sankar Kar discuss state-of-the-art capacitor-less IGZO-DRAM memory cells and how the technology can help tear down the memory wall in data-intensive applications. Building on their pioneering activities in this domain, imec started developing BEOL-compatible eDRAM implementations in the framework of the NanoIC pilot line.   Read more: https://lnkd.in/e5rW-Hgm

  • Imec and ZEISS Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology are strengthening their collaboration to advance the NanoIC pilot line with cutting-edge semiconductor technology and expertise for sub-2nm R&D. To support this, they have signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement.   “This strategic partnership between imec and ZEISS underscores how strong cohesion among European partners, which is crucial in setting up the NanoIC pilot line, the most advanced infrastructure for sub-2nm research and development in the world, accelerates innovation and strengthens Europe’s leadership position in the semiconductor ecosystem," says Luc Van den hove, CEO imec.   • Imec has achieved the first-ever electrical yield for 20nm pitch metal lines using single High NA EUV patterning. This recent milestone not only validates the capabilities of High NA EUV lithography at such a small dimension, but is also a crucial step for enabling logic technologies beyond 2nm - the ambitious goal of the NanoIC pilot line.     ASML and imec signed a strategic partnership agreement to support cutting-edge semiconductor research and sustainable innovation in Europe.   The collaboration incorporates ASML’s whole product portfolio, with a focus on developing high-end nodes. These tools will be installed in imec’s state-of-the-art pilot line and incorporated in the EU- and Flemish-funded NanoIC pilot line, providing the most advanced infrastructure for sub-2nm R&D to the international semiconductor ecosystem. A new area in the collaboration consists of a significant contribution to fund innovative ideas and activities in imec’s research funnel that bring environmental and societal benefits.   Read the full press release: https://lnkd.in/d4MmcvuR
