Redefining Personalisation with AI, a case study presented by Paul Horton from Diageo explains how the gifting market is expected to grow from USD 96.42 billion in 2025 to USD 117.98 billion by 2030, creating major opportunities. Diageo is leveraging AI to personalise experiences. Adopting a platform approach rather than a one-off campaign, the company emphasises co-creation, scalability, repeatable models and the importance of "successfully failing". Diageo fosters an innovation mindset, and ensures that responsible AI practices keep the consumer at the centre of everything they do. #ShapingtheFuturewithPackaging #packaging #print #intergrafconference #printers #AI #giftingisart #scalability

Nikolaas V. of VPK Packaging Group NV went into details of Creating Value Through Workflow Optimization. 📈 To maximise value for customers, optimisation projects follow a structured workflow combining data analysis with on-site production visits. This dual approach ensures a deep understanding of real production conditions and identifies tailored improvements. ♻️ 💶 Typical actions include reducing colour usage, combining product references while adding specific data during packing, switching to digital printing, changing packaging formats, and replacing plastic with mono-material solutions—each designed to boost efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness. #ShapingtheFuturewithPackaging #packaging #print #intergrafconference #printers #sustainability

We were delighted to welcome Suhas Kulkarni 苏灿 of Soma Enterprise Ltd. online to speak at 📦Shaping the Future with Packaging 📦 The flexographic market in Asia is growing rapidly (4–6% CAGR), driven by urbanisation, e-commerce, and FMCG demand. Flexible packaging leads the way, with strong growth also in labels, cartons, and corrugated segments. Hybrid presses, local investment, and value-added features are shaping regional trends, while start-ups, young skilled talent and exports fuel momentum. 🌱📦🛒 Sustainability and digitalisation are key drivers, with smart packaging, automation, and eco-materials gaining traction. Despite challenges like supply chain disruptions and regulatory complexity, the region offers strong opportunities for innovation and collaboration in a dynamic, evolving market. #packaging #print #intergrafconference #printers #sustainability #ecommerce #digitalisation

Jules Lejeune of FINATlabels provided us with an insightful European Label Market Overview, elaborating Trends and Outlook to 2030. The European label market is navigating a volatile yet recovering demand landscape, shaped by rapid innovation, digitalisation, and a growing focus on sustainability. Brands and converters are leveraging AI, smart technologies, and automation to remain competitive, while also adapting to shifting consumer expectations and stricter environmental standards. Core challenges include operational pressures from overcapacity, rising costs, and labour shortages. In response, the industry is diversifying into other narrow-web technologies and exploring smart packaging solutions that enhance product interaction and traceability. Looking ahead to 2030, the label sector will focus on supply chain resilience, material innovation, and circular economy compliance—driving a transformation that combines efficiency, sustainability, and adaptability. #ShapingtheFuturewithPackaging #packaging #print #intergrafconference #printers #transformation #sustainability #circulareconomy #recyclability

Transformation and Innovation in Thin Material Packaging The shift from traditional printing methods to hybrid flexo-digital printing marks a major step toward in modernisation of the printing process by both companies. This shift demands expertise in materials and chemistry, especially with high-laminate substrates and water-based inks. By merging flexo and digital technologies, the companies Goglio Group Ghelfi Ondulati | Innovative cardboard packaging managed to cut costs, reduce delivery times, and introduce variable data like unique product codes—enhancing traceability and personalisation. Innovations such as flexible paper packaging also support the move away from plastics. This ongoing journey reflects a broader commitment to sustainability, efficiency, and smarter packaging solutions. #ShapingtheFuturewithPackaging #packaging #print #intergrafconference #printers #sustainability

At Shaping the Future with Packaging 2025, Peter Stael specified that packaging is now a strategic tool at the heart of product success. In a landscape shaped by the EU Green Agenda, regulatory shifts like the PPWR, and rising consumer expectations, the role of packaging is being redefined. 🗝️ Key takeaways: • The growing importance of digital features such as QR codes, product passports, and traceability tools • The role of packaging in addressing sustainability goals, including food waste reduction and regulatory compliance (e.g. PPWR) • The strategic use of packaging for seasonal marketing, inclusivity, and consumer engagement • Packaging as a point of differentiation in the "battle for shelf space" and long-term brand fidelity in the ultimate battle of all battles #packaging #print #intergrafconference #battleofallbattles

📦Shaping the Future with Packaging 📦 Pieter De Buysser of NXTGN shares how AI is reshaping our industry, reminding us that business development hinges on desirability, feasibility, and viability. AI offers clear advantages: 🏃🏻♂️ Doing what we do—faster and better 🤔 Doing it smarter—with hyper-personalisation 🤷🏻♂️ Predicting outcomes before they happen 🦸🏻♂️ Choosing the best course of action But above all, he stresses the need to first understand what kind of company you are, before deciding how much to invest in and implement AI in your business. #packaging #print #intergrafconference #AI

“All packaging must be recyclable by 2030—and effectively recyclable by 2035.” This was the message from Ioannis Antonopoulos (European Commission, DG Environment) as he presented the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 at Shaping the Future with Packaging 📦 📍 This landmark regulation introduces binding, directly applicable sustainability requirements aimed at harmonising the sustainability requirements across the EU’s internal market. Key highlights include: ♻️ Reuse and prevention targets – introduction of legally binding packaging waste reduction targets 🏷️ Harmonised labelling – standardised sorting and reuse labels, including the option for a digital format Starting in 2030, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees will be adjusted based on recyclability performance grades at scale. The better the grade, the lower the fees, creating a financial incentive for designing recyclable packaging. Stakeholder consultations will be foreseen. #PPWR #Packaging #EURegulation #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Recyclability #ExtendedProducerResponsibility #Intergraf2025
