Trust, Rights, and Dignity. Hallmarks of Wintringham services for Forgotten Australians and People who are homeless. Tanya Atkinson detailed the unique model that this service is providing across the continuum of care. We need more models like Wintringham across the country and the need to have these services verified under the relatively new National Verification Specialisation Framework is obvious and critical.

Breaking news! Wintringham's Board President Gerard Mansour PSM has announced that CEO and Founder of Wintringham, Bryan Lipmann AM, will step down as CEO in late July 2025. After a well-deserved holiday, Bryan will return to a part-time advisory role with Wintringham. “Bryan’s vision, tenacity and commitment are truly remarkable. Thanks to his leadership, Wintringham is now one of the leading organisations in Australia focusing on the needs of the most vulnerable older people. I for one, feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with him so closely,” Gerard said. In sharing the news with staff yesterday, Bryan said, “I am proud that together, we have made a difference to the lives of thousands of older people. Everyone at Wintringham is, in their own way, helping to care and advocate for some of the most disadvantaged people in our community.” “I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have loved leading Wintringham – it has been a great privilege to work with, and for, some of the most inspiring people over such a long time. I look forward to returning after my break and starting a new chapter at Wintringham in an advisory role.” The Board has begun the process of recruiting the next CEO and hopes to have a new person in place by July. Pictures: Gerard and Bryan at our Patrick Walsh Housing in Flemington. And Bryan reminisces about Wintringham's humble beginnings, pointing to our very first financial statement, now framed at the entrance of Head Office. Look how far we've come! Thank you both Bryan and Dot, for everything! #WhatALegacy #Thankyou

It’s official – our Patricia Larkin community housing in Golden Square (Bendigo) is now open! Wintringham CEO/Founder Bryan Lipmann AM said, “This project is an important step in addressing the housing needs of vulnerable older Australians who are at risk of homelessness or experiencing homelessness in the Bendigo area. We’re proud to be part of this milestone.” “We are also grateful for the financial support from the Victorian State Government and the Peter & Lyndy White Foundation. The Foundation’s contribution is instrumental in helping us provide much-needed housing and security for vulnerable older Australians,” he added. Wintringham Deputy CEO Michael Deschepper attended the opening yesterday with Maree Edwards MP and said, “We look forward to welcoming residents to their new homes at our Patricia Larkin housing site, and contributing to a future where vulnerable older people have access to a safe and affordable home.” Thank you to everyone who made this project possible. #SocialHousing #CommunityHousing #GoldenSquare
How great! Today I officially opened 35 new social houses in Golden Square, made possible thanks to our government's Big Housing Build. The $16.6m project, in partnership with Wintringham Housing, offers safe, secure and modern housing with wheelchair accessibility. More homes mean more opportunity.

Our dedicated Barwon team has been hard at work, making a positive impact through community events and outreach initiatives recently. Care finder Case Manager Marissa and Area Co-ordinator Home Support – Barwon Region Susan recently exhibited at the Changing Minds and Positive Ageing Expo in Geelong. “It was a wonderful day meeting people in our local community and networking with other support services,” said Susan. Meanwhile, Care finder worker Anne and Housing Support & Outreach worker Jessica, also from Barwon, held an information session about Wintringham services at the local Ocean Grove Library. “It was a great opportunity to meet people and inform them about the My Aged Care system, Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), and Home Care Package services, and clarify what their entitlements are. We were also able to dispel any misinformation in the community about these services,” says Anne. Well done to our Barwon-based team for getting out and sharing your knowledge with others! #HumansofWintringham #Community #carefinder

Our Barwon Home Support team held their first Client Advisory Meeting last month. The meeting was an opportunity for Home Care Package clients from the Geelong area to provide feedback on their experience of Wintringham’s services and directly ask questions to our senior Home Support staff. The meeting was very interactive, with clients providing feedback on various topics. Clients also listened to a presentation on recreation opportunities, with fishing trips and op shop tours being a hot topic of discussion by some enthusiastic participants. To finish the meeting, everyone enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea. Wintringham will be holding two meetings per year in each region to provide an opportunity for all home support clients to attend and provide feedback. Thank you very much to all clients who particpated! #HumansofWintringham #clientfeedback #agedcare

Our Tassie Housing and Residential Aged Care teams together with Wintringham’s Chief of Staff Jane Barnes, had the pleasure of welcoming the Tasmanian Minister for Housing, the Hon Felix Ellis MP, for a tour of our Alexandra Esplanade social housing units and Wintringham Hobart Residential Aged Care home in Bellerive yesterday. One of our housing residents, Jules, kindly offered to share her time and her amazing personal story with the Minister. It's a story of overcoming tragedy, addiction and homelessness to become such a valued and giving member of our little community. Jules spoke about how important it is to her, for others to hear her story, because she knows that so many people are still living what she lived, and it can help them to know there is light to be found on the other side of the struggle. “Sincere thanks to Jules for sharing so much of herself for others, and to the residents of Wintringham Hobart for warmly welcoming us into their home,” said Jane. “My thanks also go to Minister Ellis for taking time out of his busy schedule to listen and see firsthand the work our dedicated teams do here. Having a home is more than just having a roof over your head, it’s about having the space to feel safe, to enjoy life, and to prosper."

Our CEO and Founder Bryan Lipmann AM and General Manager Home Support Kate Rice recently presented at a Senate Parliamentary Committee hearing for the new Aged Care Bill 2024 at Queensland Parliament in Brisbane. The hearings were chaired by Senator Anne Ruston and Senator Penny Allman-Payne. We were honoured to be asked to present and be a voice for older people that are vulnerable to homelessness. Bryan and Kate emphasised the need for a more comprehensive and supportive aged care system, that addresses the specific needs of people who are older, homeless, or have experienced trauma. Bryan stressed that the Act should prioritise quality of life for residents, rather than solely focusing on quality of care. He highlighted the importance of social and emotional support for residents, as many have experienced trauma and isolation. While Kate highlighted the important role social workers play in aged care services and their contributions to enhance resident wellbeing, while working collaboratively with nursing teams. Thank you Bryan and Kate for representing so beautifully, the beliefs and work of our wider Wintringham team! #HumansofWintringham #AgedCareBill #homelessnessadvocates #advocacy
