We have been privileged to work with WA Primary Health Alliance - WAPHA almost since its inception. Purple's Ruth Callaghan had the chance to sit down with Learne Durrington as she prepares for her next chapter.
From taking WA Primary Health Alliance from “three people and a couple of boxes”, to being the largest, and, arguably, most innovative Primary Health Network operator in Australia, Learne Durrington has been a trailblazing CEO with an unwavering commitment to health equity. As she prepares to embark on a new chapter of her life, with a focus on garden design, cycling and simply enjoying and being grateful for every single day, Learne took the time to sum up just some of her achievements and challenges of the last 10 years. We're incredibly proud of David Corney and Lainey Smith for their participation in the Hawaiian Ride for Youth. David, a veteran of 16 years (six as a rider, 10 in support) and first-time participant Lainey braved record-breaking heat last week. Lainey clocked over 6,000km in training and together with 150 riders, they cycled 700km from Albany to Perth, raising awareness and crucial funds for Youth Focus , a not-for-profit organisation that delivers mental health services across WA to young people at-risk. The ride included impactful school visits, sharing stories and connecting with students. As Lainey said, "Suicide is the leading cause of death for young people in WA - it's also something we can do a lot more to prevent." The $2 million raised will make a real difference.

The 2025-2026 Federal Budget was brought on in its full form thanks to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred being in the direct path of any ambition Prime Minister Anthony Albanese may have had to hold this year’s Federal Election prior to the Easter break, and with it comes a mixed bag of rainbows and storm clouds.
