It's here... the Little Food Festival starts today! A wonderful event, bringing together 10,000+ primary school aged children to learn about the food system from Dr Sandro Demaio, Costa Georgiadis, Thanh Truong (AKA the Fruit Nerd), OzHarvest, CSIRO, The Community Grocer, Farm My School, Bunnings, Rooftop Bees, Deana Leahy, Rosie Welch, Dillicious, Laura Parsons and many other key players. This year our Monash Nutrition students are testing some new approaches to evaluate the Festival... How can fun, play-based education inspire and empower children to re-imagine our future food system?!

This was a dream come true for James McLennan and everyone at Farm My School - a corporate day hosting a room full of like-minded, passionate people. There was a team from Deakin University including Dr Felice Jacka OAM, Dr Steve Allender, Dr Cindy Needham, Dr Carolina Vergas Hargous, Dr Kathryn Backholer, Colin Bell, Dr EricaReeve, Veronica Graham, visiting scholar, Kristine Vigsnes and guest of honour, Dr Francesco Branca, Director of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety of the World Health Organization. Together they learnt more about what we do, why we do it and how we do it. They immersed themselves in planting, cooking, pickling, fermenting, learning, farming and connecting. Dr Branca shared the following insightful words about us to his followers. "The farm sells vegetables to schools, to local markets and to families and teaches how to cook healthy meals," says Dr Branca. "It is economically viable with limited external support. The next Nourish workshop will be hosted by Anthony Hammel, Executive Chef of The Arborist. Anthony is passionate about mentoring the next generation of chefs, and encouraging healthy, communal eating. Nourish is a series of community workshops to share the good that we are doing at Farm My School with local families and individuals and arm them with simple tools, recipes and practical ways to nurture themselves, their garden and their family. Community Engagement Manager (Part-Time) A key position aimed at expanding our community outreach, securing funding through sponsorships and memberships, organising events, and fostering valuable partnerships. This role will help ensure FMS’s long-term sustainability by strengthening community relationships.
