From mapping minerals to powering the future: Esper raises A$5M 🛰️ Big news! We've secured A$5M in seed funding to build Australia's first hyperspectral satellite constellation dedicated to critical minerals discovery. While the world races to electrify, a crucial bottleneck remains: finding enough lithium, cobalt, rare earths and other minerals to power the transition. That's where we come in. Our founders Shoaib Iqbal 🛰 📸 and Przemyslaw Lorenczak had a simple question: what if we could see what's beneath the surface without digging? Our answer: the EarthTones platform, which will provide unprecedented mineral mapping capabilities directly to exploration teams. With launches set for 2025-2026 and strong backing from Hejaz and PASPALIS, we're positioning Australia—particularly the mineral-rich Northern Territory—at the forefront of space-enabled resource discovery. Thanks for speaking with us!
For small and emerging #space companies and entrepreneurial startups, the cost to build a #satellite and launch it into orbit may be too high to get off the ground. Thankfully, the #CondoSat trend is making it easier and cheaper to get payloads into orbit. But what regulatory and liability challenges await companies entering this nascent marketplace? For my latest article in Constellations, I sat down with experts from Boeing, Analysys Mason, Esper Satellite Imagery, and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP to discuss the benefits of CondoSats, and some of the #legal and #regulatory questions they still face. https://lnkd.in/e-r4PNzX
