Huge win! ⚡️ The Federal Government has just announced a $2.3 billion investment to make household batteries more accessible. That means households could save up to $1,459 a year on their power bills. We welcome this health promoting, climate resilient policy—but there’s still more to do. Millions of people—particularly renters, low-income households and apartment dwellers—continue to face barriers to clean, affordable energy. We know that with solar, batteries and home energy upgrades, families can save $3039 a year on their power bills. That’s why the Renew Australia For All Alliance has been calling for a $5 billion investment to support those who need it most. CAHA is a proud member of the Alliance! ✨ Let’s keep going—no one should miss out on cheaper, cleaner energy. ☀️🔋 #ClimateHealth

CAHA is committed to advancing healthcare in ways that protect both public health and the environment. That’s why we’ve proudly endorsed Healthy Futures (Au)'s All-Electric Healthy Hospitals Campaign, a coalition representing over 100,000 healthcare workers calling to electrify Australia’s hospitals with renewable energy. 🏥⚡🌱 Hospitals are among the largest energy users and fossil fuel consumers in the country, relying heavily on gas and diesel for heating, sterilisation and power. The healthcare sector contributes 7% of Australia’s total emissions, making hospital electrification a critical step in tackling climate change. What excites us about All-Electric Healthy Hospitals: 🌿 Cleaner air and healthier hospitals: Hospitals shouldn’t contribute to the very health problems they treat. 💰 Lower operating costs: Renewable energy is the cheapest form of power, allowing hospitals to reinvest in patient care instead of expensive fossil fuels. 🌡️ Stronger climate resilience: Electrification ensures hospitals can continue delivering care even during extreme weather events. The All-Electric Healthy Hospitals Campaign is already backed by leading medical organisations representing over 100,000 healthcare professionals. A strong show of support will help demonstrate the urgent need for government investment in hospital electrification. Join us in endorsing the campaign today 👇 https://lnkd.in/ebKC3HDc Together, we can make Australia’s hospitals cleaner, safer, and more climate resilient.

Climate and Health Alliance reposted this
Essential reading: The health impacts of the new 2050 coal led nuclear plan in Australia ⛑️ The document below presented by the Climate and Health Alliance (CAHA) discusses the direct health impacts to communities from the current alternate energy plan being posed to the Australian community in 2025. ⛑️ The assessment examined multiple factors including the physical and transition risks, co-benefits and direct health impacts to Australian communities. I was one of three specialist contributors on CAHA’s working group who assessed the current nuclear plan. ⛑️ The assessment briefing note below is highly recommended reading to understand the real human impacts of coal led energy policy. It was prepared by Dr. Thomas Longden and Professor Martin Hensher who presented their findings at CAHA’s healthy conversations event this week. Don’t miss CAHA’s Healthy Conversation this Wednesday, 26th March at 6:30pm AEDT, where we’ll discuss the critical health impacts of a nuclear future and the pressing need to move away from coal.😷 A panel of experts – Dr Thomas Longden, Professor Martin Hensher, Dr Catherine Pendrey, and Ben Munro – will discuss how a nuclear future could delay the phase-out of coal by up to 25 years. This would mean continued air pollution, causing even more preventable harm to human health across Australia. As Professor Martin Hensher says, “There is no scientific controversy over the health harms of air pollution; it has been one of the best understood examples of how industrial pollution damages human health for over half a century. Needlessly keeping ageing coal-fired power stations open for decades longer will cause thousands more Australians to die prematurely or suffer significant illness.” This discussion will arm you with valuable knowledge to speak confidently on these issues within your community or health organisation. 🌍💚 Register for this free event 👇 https://lnkd.in/gfN5aj7R Learn more about CAHA's campaign to end coal👇 caha.org.au/endcoal
