Northampton Saints’ Henry Pollock has run 10m/s. Context. Usain Bolt’s WR 100m time was him running on average 10.44m/s.❌ Just have a think about that while you sip your Saturday morning coffee….. I enjoyed this article by Charlie Morgan about Henry Pollock, a player who game by game, is demonstrating how he’s going to maximise his potential. Interestingly, Pollock’s stats are highlighted and they’re incredibly impressive. The article shows how closely he’s worked with S&C staff and sports scientists at both national and club level, to help improve, adapt and continually develop himself. Henry Pollock's physical prowess is on show in his outstanding PBs 🏋 Squat - 230kg x 3 (He’s 105kg himself) 💪 Bench press - 140kg x 2 (Same weights as Will Skelton. Google him) 🏃♂️ Max velocity - 10m per second (Usain Bolt’s WR 100m run was an average of 10.44m/s) 🆙 Standing jump - 54cm 🐎 Bronco time: 4m 25s (1,200m with 30 turns involved. Try and run 1,000m in a straight line at 4m30s for context) Love being a part of the team at Catapult that delivers a plethora of stats, including some of those above, to both Northampton & England Rugby and all of the other Premiership Rugby clubs, helping them have a much deeper understanding of their players and how to create consistent high performance. Well worth a read. 📰 https://lnkd.in/eUvBshdT #sport #sportstech #technology #data

The pleasure is all ours! I am fortunate to work with a number of elite sports organisations and none have been more welcoming and willing to foster a true partnership than the Crusaders! Whether it is speaking on behalf of Catapult at conferences, inviting us to games, sending Christmas gifts, adding us to their fantasy league, testing products, or the countless lunches and dinners, they are always looking to engage and feel like far more than a 'customer'. By no means does this mean I will be cheering for them when they play against an Aussie side... but the partnership is very much appreciated!

Last week was a busy and exciting one, reconnecting with both of my former schools. We hosted the University of Colorado Boulder - Leeds School of Business at the Catapult London office, where they explored international business in the sports industry. Then, I headed up to Sheffield Hallam University for the annual (ISEA) International Sports Engineering Association Sports Engineering Seminar Day, a great event for sharing ideas and advancements in the field. Special thanks for Amanda Hansen and Stephanie Cockram for organizing the CU visit and to Michael Thelwell, PhD for inviting me to speak in Sheffield!

The first-ever Catapult ClearSky system in Middle East and Africa has been successfully installed and commissioned at the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football 🇲🇦 marking a significant step forward for athlete tracking technology in the region. As a MorocCan, I’m especially proud to be part of this milestone and to witness firsthand how this technology will contribute to the development of sports in Morocco and beyond. A huge thank you to Grégory Delhomel Thomas Relf, Kyle Stobbs, Sofiane Fatmi and @Salah Lahlou for their amazing work and collaboration in making this happening !

The numbers don’t lie: Women’s sports are shattering records in viewership, sponsorships, and investment. But the real story? This isn’t just a moment—it’s a movement. From the 24 million viewers tuning in to the NCAA women’s basketball championship to the WNBA’s groundbreaking $2.2 billion media-rights deal, the shift is undeniable. And beyond the headlines, the most exciting changes are happening behind the scenes—where technology, performance analytics, and infrastructure investment are redefining what’s possible for female athletes. At Catapult we see this transformation firsthand, as more women’s teams invest in high-performance technology to optimize training, reduce injuries, and gain a competitive edge. I break it all down in my latest byline for Sports Business Journal—exploring how performance technology is fueling the next era of competition and growth. I've only been involved in F1 for just over a decade and it's not just the cars that have evolved, it's alo how teams use data to extract thousandths of a second to get that important pole position, or the undercut that gives you the win. Most teams on the grid use RaceWatch from Catapult and I've been luck to have been involved with that over this past decade. Some of the evolution in our software is as simple as more data integrations, or tools and features to help better collaboration and quicker decision making, to more complicated algorithms, AI and machine learning features that help manage track limits infringements or create optimised and precise race predictions, creating a seamless all in one solution for those under pressure sitting on the pitwall. • Bridging the Research Gap in Women’s Football. Did you know that female footballers suffer non-contact ACL injuries 2.5 times more often than their male counterparts? While no single cause has been pinpointed, this underscores the urgent need for women-specific research and training. Yet, despite clear developmental differences, like how girls hit their adolescent height spike about two years earlier than boys, sports science research remains largely male-focused. A review of 5,000+ sports science studies found that: 🔹 31% studied only male participants 🔹 63% included both men and women 🔹 Only 6% focused exclusively on women This lack of dedicated research means that many training protocols and products for women are simply scaled-down versions of those designed for men. At Catapult, we’re addressing this disparity by working with institutions like Loughborough University and West Ham United FC Women’s team to develop women-specific performance pathways. Our latest Women’s Football Benchmark Report, built on match data from the 2023 Women’s World Cup, establishes position-specific benchmarks for distance, speed, and intensity based on real elite scenarios. This is just the beginning of a data-driven revolution in women’s football. By tailoring training and performance standards to the unique demands of the women's game, we can improve safety, enhance performance, and drive the sport forward. 🔗 Access the full report to start building better training programs today. https://bit.ly/4i7CbCd @SportsBall #SportsDataDecoded #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #UnleashPotential
