  • We're excited to share a first look at O Pavilion, the new front door to the Optus Campus at Macquarie park. Following the contours of the site, the curved pavilion creates a seamless threshold between the built and natural environments. The building opens out to the O Lawn, a social and cultural node within the broader garden experience that defines the Optus campus. The space is designed to foster meaningful engagement between staff, collaborators, and visitors. Refined and permeable, the architecture establishes an open dialogue between people, technology, and nature. • One of Brisbane's oldest buildings has received a commendation in the Greater Brisbane Architecture Awards for 2025. Newstead House, Brisbane’s oldest European residence, received a commendation for Heritage Architecture. Originally built in 1846, this state-listed heritage site has been meticulously restored so that it can continue its role in the city as a cultural institution, events space and museum.  Our Health team are also celebrating a commendation in the Urban Design category for The Queensland Satellite Hospitals program (QSHP), submitted by Fulton Trotter Architects in collaboration with GHD Design. QSHP includes the design and delivery of seven hospitals needed for rapidly growing Queensland communities. Both projects will now be shortlisted for the Queensland Architecture Awards, and winners will be announced at the end of June. Congratulations to all the entrants involved in the awards program this year, and to our own teams for this recognition. #Queenslandarchitecture   Photography by Christopher Frederick Jones

Spread across eight levels, this vertical university campus is housed within a tower in the heart of Adelaide. Working with Flinders University and Walker Corporation, the focus for our Interiors team was connectivity and flexibility. The prominent and highly visible staircase connects people across floors, brings in natural light and captures outstanding views of the city and Adelaide Oval. Bringing diverse user groups into the city activates and energises the precinct, while connecting students and teachers. To read more, click the link in the comments.

  • Inspired by the enduring image of the ancient River Red Gum, the welcoming lobby of Shepparton Law Courts continues the tradition of proud civic architecture in Victoria's regions. Like the majestic tree providing shade or shelter, this space offers the possibility of a gathering or meeting place. It forms part of a complete justice precinct, with the police station to the west and the 1930s heritage Supreme Court building in the centre. Architectus worked in association with GHD Design and Guymer Bailey Architects Pty Ltd who designed the custodial zones. #Courts #PublicArchitecture 📸 Scott Burrows | 🛠️ ADCO Constructions |📍Shepparton, Victoria

  • Architectus is celebrating the opening of O Pavilion at the Optus Campus. The project was conceived as part of a competition winning scheme – a showcase of people, place and technology to celebrate the ‘future of work’. “We thought of the O Pavilion as a generous and welcoming new ‘front door’. It is a contemporary and sophisticated expression of openness and connectivity – between people and their workplace, between technology and opportunity, and between landscape and wellbeing.” - Patricia Bondin, Principal and Nicholas E., Senior Associate Located in Macquarie Park, Sydney, the project was co-created with Optus and is underpinned by Country-centred principles. Through collaboration with BALARINJI, the pavilion and the surrounding environment honour both human and non-human kin, and the site’s rich heritage. Reframing the arrival experience, the pavilion will become a showcase for Optus - a reflection of brand and cultural ambition. Its function will be shaped by its users, fuelled by a sense of optimism and opportunity.    We are excited to observe how this building will evolve and adapt over time and extend our congratulations to our team of collaborators: Stockland, AIMS, Grindley, BALARINJI#Architecture #SustainableDesign #Optus #Sydney #Innovation  Photos by Kim Madgwick

  • What's the best way to work? It's become a big topic for both employees and employers in recent years. No matter which side of the debate you’re on – remote, in-office or hybrid – the physical environment that supports your workplace strategy needs to cater to the ever-changing expectations of the market. Companies often invest significant time and resources, not to mention embedded carbon, into a cycle of workplace upgrades every five years. But what if office interiors were not finite and fixed – what if we could create an endless suite of opportunities? Our Workplace team have been developing reconfigurable modular blocks of space with our clients over the last couple of years. Concept models are put through rigorous testing with stakeholders to identify the minimum viable configurations of a modular ‘kit of parts’. This approach provides a robust foundation for dynamic work environments, reduces waste and costs, and supports the creation of versatile spaces using sustainable materials. Read more about the application of modular workplace design by following the link in the comments.

  • We're proud to announce Kangan Institute’s Health and Community Centre of Excellence (HACCOE) has been shortlisted for two awards at the Victorian Architecture Awards 2025.  The ‘game-changing’ facility supports our future caring workforce, home to a range of courses including nursing, pathology, aged care, childcare and disability support, students are spread over three levels and connected by light-filled atria. The building is a confident first step in a master plan which re-orients the campus to the Broadmeadows community, displaying the interesting training happening within the building and embracing the neighbouring Town Park as part of the campus experience. Shortlisted for the Melbourne Prize and Educational Architecture Award, it's an honour to be recognised in such an outstanding field of projects. Congratulations to all involved in the awards program, winners will be announced at the end of June. #australianinstituteofarchitects | Australian Institute of Architects Photos by Trevor Mein

  • Bendigo TAFE’s City Campus remains a benchmark for revitalising underutilised city precincts through creative reinvention. Woven into the historic fabric of Bendigo, the new City Campus celebrates TAFE’s industrial heritage and champions its ongoing contribution to regional prosperity. But most importantly, it communicates to prospective students, industry partners and the broader community that Bendigo TAFE is an industry-focused, future-focused, approachable and inspiring place to learn. The revitalisation of the campus was a collaboration between Architectus, Six Degrees Architects and SBLA Studio. We had the privilege of working with Dja Dja Wurrung Enterprises Pty Ltd and artist Mandy Nicholson to embed artwork into the fabric of each building, and co-create special places that warmly celebrate First Peoples.      The architecture aims to empower students as agents in their education, training, and work futures by expanding their choices about how, where, and when they learn. Catering to diverse cohorts, the internal spaces are a balance of high-energy, collaborative environments and quiet zones that support reflection, individual study and learning assistance.
