Sustainable Technologies for Reducing Europe’s bAttery raw MaterialS dependance
Info
STREAMS (Sustainable Technologies for Reducing Europe’s bAttery raw MaterialS dependence) is a groundbreaking Research and Innovation Actions project, funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Programme (Grant Agreement No 101137771). Spearheaded by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT, Austria), this initiative brings together a collaborative network of 15 Partners from 10 countries, encompassing Austria, Belgium, Norway, Greece, Ireland, Ukraine, Poland, Turkey, Spain, and Finland, with a project duration of 36 months. The core objective of STREAMS is to develop, evaluate, and successfully demonstrate a comprehensive portfolio of at least 12 scalable and flexible technologies and pilot-scale solutions. These innovations aim to foster the sustainable production of battery-grade precursors, along with their corresponding anode and cathode active materials. The project adopts a holistic approach, encompassing materials from both primary and secondary sources, including recycled battery mass and photovoltaic waste. By doing so, STREAMS seeks to fortify Europe’s domestic battery materials supply chain, reducing dependency on imported critical and strategic raw materials.

🇺🇸 Our partner American Energy Technologies Company will speak at the 2nd Roundtable on Domestic Production of Synthetic Graphite on April 15 in Lexington, KY! They will present key trends in battery-grade graphite manufacturing in the US, featuring insights from STREAMS Project and SAFELOOP projects. 🔋🌍 Let’s build resilient supply chains, together : stay tuned !
American Energy Technologies Co. (AETC) will present the state of the industry overview talk, entitled: "Current Trends in Domestic Manufacturing of Battery-Grade Graphite in the United States" at the 2nd annual Roundtable on the Domestic Production of Synthetic Graphite. The event will be held on April 15, 2025 in Lexington, KY 40511, USA. The event intends to develop the framework for a coherent, national program to address issues pertaining to the urgent need for domestic graphite production. The meeting will feature stakeholders from within Kentucky and throughout the North America to learn more about the importance of graphite and the risk posed by China’s dominance of the global supply; discuss relevant issues for domestic production & testing; and outline research and development projects and manufacturing & testing facilities that are needed to support both academic and industry efforts. The University of Kentucky Center for Applied Energy (CAER) in in Lexington, Kentucky investigates energy technologies to improve the environment. Researchers contribute to technically-sound policies related to fossil and renewable energy. CAER is one of UK's multidisciplinary research centers. Research efforts are directed to: - Coal beneficiation, utilization, and conversion process technologies - Fuel use - Coal combustion by-products - Engineered fuels - Derivation of high added-value materials and chemicals - Renewable energy such as biofuels and bioenergy, electrochemistry, solar energy and environmental remediation. The CAER is a UK unit that is staffed by professional scientists and engineers, has extensive interactions with faculty members and students, and provides analytical services for outside organizations. CAER adds to the teaching and instruction arm of UK by educating students from pre-college to postgraduate levels and being involved in labor force development for the Commonwealth. The upcoming roundtable is not like a traditional academic workshop. The goal of UK CAER is to advance the US graphite industry, providing a roadmap to take advantage of existing capabilities and identify needed investments. In its presentation, AETC will feature battery-grade graphite initiatives unfolding under the EU SAFELOOP project and STREAMS Project among other exciting developments happening at our company.
