ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.@CAWORLD #CAWORLD Navigating Through the Datacom Menu (Cont’d) The DCTASKS Command DCTASKS • Provides a real time look inside MUF • Most used debugging display Status shows what each task is doing • ACTIVE are tasks that running on a CPU • READY TO RUN – waiting for a CPU • WAIT xxxx – Task asleep while waiting on another function to complete • NOT ACTIVE – not currently processing a Datacom command

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.@CAWORLD #CAWORLD Using CA SYSVIEW for Real - Time Problem Solving Only Real-Time Tool to Look Inside MUF § CA SYSVIEW interface allows SYSVIEW to “see” inside MUF even when the MUF is hung or looping § Not every situation will be the same, but there are a couple of familiar occurrences § We will walk through a couple of scenarios

ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.@CAWORLD #CAWORLD Using CA SYSVIEW for Real-Time Problem Solving MUF is Looping (Heavy CPU or IO Consumption) § Issue DCTASKS and look at executing (ACTIVE) task – Hit enter does the task switch or is the same task always active § Same task active – could mean a looping or runaway task – Does the RSEQNUM change § No – then the task is “running away” in MUF § Yes – then the application is running away – driving MUF § Different task active means MUF is processing as expected – Are the RSEQNUM changing § NO – then several heavy tasks in MUF § Yes – Then the tasks are driving MUF
