Initially, the Docker Engine was a single statically-linked binary that provided the client, daemon, build tool, and registry client functionality. It has since been decomposed, with container execution handled by OCI and runc, image management by containerd, and the various components integrated together by Docker CE and Moby. This decomposition allows the components to be reused independently by other systems like Kubernetes, which uses cri-containerd to integrate with containerd and runc for container execution instead of directly integrating with Docker.

Over the past six months, it has gained 75 contributors and seen improvements like support for additional platforms, TPM support, immutable images, and newer kernel versions. Looking ahead, the next six months will focus on stable releases when Containerd 1.0 is available, using LinuxKit as the basis for Docker desktop and cloud editions, and expanding Kubernetes integration and production usage. The LinuxKit Security SIG has also deep dived several security projects and aims to contribute further to upstream Linux security.

With a 10 year journey rooted in the HPC parts of the german automotive industry, Christian Kniep started to support CAE applications and VR installations. When told at a conference that HPC can not learn anything from the emerging Cloud and BigData companies, he became curious and was leading the containerization effort of the cloud-stack at Playstation Now. Christian joined Docker Inc in 2017 to help push the adoption forward and be part of the innovation instead of an external bystander. During the day he helps Docker customers in the EMEA region to fully utilize the power of containers; at night he likes to explore new emerging trends by containerizing them first and seek application in the nebulous world of DevOps.

While we often talk about the density advantages of containers, it's the opposite approach that we use in the High Performance Computing world! Here, we use exactly 1 system container per node, giving it unlimited access to all of the host's CPU, Memory, Disk, IO, and Network. And yet we can still leverage the management characteristics of containers -- security, snapshots, live migration, and instant deployment to recycle each node in between jobs. In this talk, we'll examine a reference architecture and some best practices around containers in HPC environments.

Using Telegram to interact with an LED Matrixxorduna This document summarizes the components used to create an LED wall display interface using Telegram. The LED wall is composed of 128 pixels arranged in an 8x16 configuration. The architecture includes a Telegram bot to receive messages and images, a Redis database to store the model and media, a Flask API to interface with the components, and Celery to manage asynchronous tasks like image conversion. Images are stored in Amazon S3 and the LED wall is controlled by a Raspberry Pi connected to an LED driver HAT. The system allows users to send messages and photos to the Telegram bot which are then processed and displayed on the LED wall.
