INTRODUCTION:
Smart technologies are increasing in prevalence within the construction industry through the
development of technology-based systems. The use of RFID in the construction industry has
been growing day by day and its application getting more and more diverse. Construction
services that have utilized RFID technologies include schedule management, quality
inspection, building maintenance, construction document management, supply chain
management, and more . Other previous applications that have proven to be successful have
illustrated the suitability and practicality of RFID in functions such as the tracking of
materials, inventory control, detection of underground services, and resource management. In
terms of materials tracking, RFID technology has been found to be useful in tracking
materials directly on site as well in supply chain logistics
With the quick advancement of the Internet in modernistic years, every element of our lives
has been entwined from the usage of the Internet. This helps individuals enhance the work
proficiency and essence of life. With the end goal to take care of the developing business
sector demand, and continually meet the outgrowth of social advancement, conducive and
intelligent Internet of things based on the Internet appeared.
The evolvement and advancement of the Internet of Things applications, mobile, and the
web, is on the surge. Applications, working with information got from various regions, for
example, intelligent homes, transportation, public assistance, health care, open
administrations, and numerous others. Internet of Things is a juncture where consistently
gadgets wind up to be more quick-witted, insightful, understanding, intuitive and hence
communication on daily basis become much simpler and lucid. While the IoT is still delving
for its very own shape, its aftermaths have just gazed in making fantastic walks as a
widespread arrangement media for the associated scenario.
With the advancement in the technology and industrialization in software sector had evolved
the huge infrastructure, where managing this infrastructure is a challenging. We made this
project to ease the management of the office with huge number of cabins by fully automating
the access, maintaining the records in the database, connecting it to cloud, using the concept
of home automation and internet of things.
The current study is to understand the application of RFID in Automating Quality
Management.
COMPONENTS
Hardware Implementation:
4
These are the details of various components and sensors used in the development of the
project are discussed as follows:
a) RFID (RC 522) Card reader:
The Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) which works on the principle of
radio frequency used to identify the different objects using a tag and a reader. There are
different types of RFID tags like active and passive.
RFID-RC522 is an electronic device used to read or write the data on the tags using non-
contact and near proximity range at 13.56 MHz These tags are small but have high
integration. Connected using few simple wires using Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).

b) Raspberry Pi:
Raspberry pi is a small sized pc designed for educational purpose, developed by Raspberry Pi
foundation in UK. In this project we are using Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ which runs at
1.4Ghz, dual-band wireless LAN,64 bit quad-core processor, has inbuilt Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
modules and support of Power-over-Ethernet. It has 4 USB ports. It uses Broadcom
BCM2835 Soc in the first generation. The Raspberry Pi 3+ uses a Broadcom BCM2837B0.
Default it operates at 700 MHz, the raspberry pi provided in the first generation has a real-
world performance nearly equal to 0.041 GFLOPS on CPU. This device requires a micro SD
card which is installed with a NOOBS operating system and a Micro USB used for power
supply at 2.1A. It can be used as a desktop computer also.

This paper introduces the Raspberry Pi application in the office through web and
takes the information from the MQTT server and does the exchanging activities appropriately
by reacting promptly. There are two Raspberry Pi used one either at the entrance of office or
any place suitable.

c) LM 35 Temperature Sensor:
The LM35 series are precision integrated circuit based temperature sensing devices
with the output voltage which is linearly proportional to the temperature measured in
Centigrade applied in the surrounding environment of the sensor. LM35 series devices have
an advantage when compared to linear temperature sensors which calculate the temperature
in Kelvin, Since the user is not required to subtract a large reference voltage from the output
to get convenient scaling in Centigrade. The LM35 series sensor has 3 pins namely Vcc that
is voltage supply required by IC, ground which is connected to the ground of the controller
The LM35 series IC’s do not need any external trimming or the calibration to give typical
accuracies of ±¼°C at an average room temperature of ±¾°C, at a full −55°C to 150°C range
of temperature. These IC’s can be used with only one power supply, or with two power
supplies.

d) Relay:
These relay modules are electrically operated switches that allow switching circuit
using either by voltage or current which is higher the voltage level of the raspberry pi. There
are several relays used in this project to connect the each and every electrical device which is
to be controlled by the user either from the IOT or by the lab manager through the AWS
server.
Software Implementation
This paper uses various software technologies which are both at client and server side, The
different software’s used in this paper are mentioned below
• Python
• Amazon Web Services: In AWS we have used a Ubuntu EC2 virtual machine.
• MySQL
• PHP

Intelligent Office Management System
The architecture of the intelligent office environment
system
This intelligent office framework is intended for both client driven and office
administrator/colleague driven purposes.
In this, the framework or the client chooses the "on" or "off" of the electrical devices
for a particular cubicle or area in office when a worker having a place with that cubicle enters
the workplace. The employees additionally have the decision to pick which electrical gadgets
should be turned "on" or "off" when he enters or leaves and the database will record the
choice that has been made.
Right off the bat, the servers and sensors are instated, when the RFID reader identifies
the passage of the client then it will send the data of the client to the raspberry pi and the
raspberry pi stacks the information on the AWS server and all the while on MQTT server.
There is another raspberry pi which goes about as the collector, which gets the live
information from MQTT alongside the recognizable proof number of the client, at that point
the recipient side raspberry pi triggers the transfers of the specific client hence turning on the
electrical machines of that client.
While the AWS server after receiving the data, it stores the received data in the
database. The information is updated on the website showing the number of users in the
office and there logs. This webpage also allows the office assistant/manager to turn “on” or
“off” the devices at a higher authority level.

Related Works
Considering the fact that this project is solely based on the concept of Internet of things, there
is a lot of groundwork that is being done by many that included various ways of
implementing the perception of internet of things in a whole new way. The contemporary
work is primarily based on the regulation and supervision of lighting systems.
In Hang Li et al [1], he exclusively talks about the smart utilization of office environment by
concentrating on the ventilation, lighting of the rooms and the ventilation that is being
provided in the offices. Spreading more light on this topic we have Shang-Wei Wang et al
[2], who in his paper talks about the vivid use of RFID in healthcare by demonstrating its
applications in hospitals.
Moving forward to another paper which was written by Yichen Ma et al [3], he concentrates
on the Radio Frequency Identification System also well known as RFID. He conceptualizes
the idea of RFID system in laboratories and how the educational institutions get benefited by
this identification system. Another person by the name Rahul D S et al [4], discusses in his
paper about how the Solar power and IoT together when intertwined can lead to great
advancements in the field of agriculture. He talks about how the farm and irrigation
monitoring can be optimized with the usage of IoT along with solar power which are unified
with Wi-Fi. R.Nageswara Rao et al [5], argues about the vital role of agriculture and the
aftermath of using IoT based systems in this field of agriculture for monitoring the crop and
mechanization of irrigation. He used Raspberry Pi for developing this system which could
improve the productivity of the whole agricultural fashion. These are just a few in a billion
who threw light upon the cumbersome Internet of things.
Results
The implementation of the project in the real word is intended to accomplish a much
proficient and clear execution of saving power and expanding work process productivity in
the workplace condition. The AWS server assumes an imperative role in dealing with all the
9
mind-boggling tasks of keeping up the whole database of every last worker and in this way
gradually learning itself about every individual representative's entrance and leave timings.
The MQTT server is another stage which is exclusively utilized in cell phones for the
straightforward access of representatives at whatever point they need to thereby decrease the
power utilized.

APPLICATION IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
These technologies are continually being used to optimize construction procedures. For
example there has been an achievement of 23.3% reduction in wasteful time during rebar
placement operations, through the use of RFID technology.
Automated System in Quality Inspection Previous works in developing an automated system
in quality inspection were also reviewed in this project. This review focuses on the research
projects of the past decade, which centered on developing applied systems via the application
of state-of-the-art technologies. This approach by previous works therefore supports the
direction of the current study, which aims to utilize a sensory system combined with virtual
technology. The review was able to arrive at two concluding points. First, the past decade of
research for automated inspection systems has focused primarily on system accuracy, rather
than its validation. Radopoulou and Brilakis (2016), for instance, presented an automated
detection system for multiple pavement defects. In this case, the focus of the data analysis
was for accuracy, rather than any evaluation during its conduct. In addition, Turkan et al.
(2012) developed a tracking system for the construction of reinforced concrete and steel
structures. Kwon et al. (2014) also integrated BIM with image matching and augmented
13
reality (AR), with the goal of achieving quality inspection without the need for an actual site
visit. Again, these projects were focused on testing the accuracy of progress tracking and
defect detection, respectively. The other point, as defined during the literature review, is the
tendency of the research to converge toward issues of safety. Moon et al. (2011) presented a
ubiquitous sensor network (USN)–based data acquisition system with the focus of increasing
structural safety. In a similar manner, Wang and Boukamp (2007) developed an automated
system to detect safety requirements. Park and Kim (2013) also proposed a prototype that
allowed for safety management through a visualization system, which was then tested based
on an accident scenario. The previous research projects in the safety issue also have its
deficiency in the evaluation to measure its own value in practical situation. Given these
points, the presented project decided to further its developed system through the use of a time
study to measure its true value in an actual environment. This included an accuracy test as
well as the presentation of time data to quantify its workability, as represented by the
measured productivities.
CONCLUSION:
The use of RFID tagging system and raspberry pi 3 is to procure the management of the
office which is smart enough. In the pragmatic or practical approach this project yields better
results than that of the theoretical results. RFID and Raspberry Pi are the hardware capable
components. The data is received from RFID reader and is sent to Amazon web server and
MQTT server. We also regulate the Electrical and Electronics devices of various employees
distinctively by using the ID tag. The data about the details of an employee are transferred to
the cloud.
A mobile phone application which works by integrating the concoction of both IoT and the
RFID system to monitor and control the devices through the application ‘MQTT’ which
remotely gives the flexibility to the users. Thus, reducing energy consumption and thereby
increasing the effectiveness. The results proved that the prototype is worked well. This
system helps to efficiently scale down the load of work that is on the employees.

  • 3. 3 INTRODUCTION: Smart technologies are increasing in prevalence within the construction industry through the development of technology-based systems. The use of RFID in the construction industry has been growing day by day and its application getting more and more diverse. Construction services that have utilized RFID technologies include schedule management, quality inspection, building maintenance, construction document management, supply chain management, and more . Other previous applications that have proven to be successful have illustrated the suitability and practicality of RFID in functions such as the tracking of materials, inventory control, detection of underground services, and resource management. In terms of materials tracking, RFID technology has been found to be useful in tracking materials directly on site as well in supply chain logistics With the quick advancement of the Internet in modernistic years, every element of our lives has been entwined from the usage of the Internet. This helps individuals enhance the work proficiency and essence of life. With the end goal to take care of the developing business sector demand, and continually meet the outgrowth of social advancement, conducive and intelligent Internet of things based on the Internet appeared. The evolvement and advancement of the Internet of Things applications, mobile, and the web, is on the surge. Applications, working with information got from various regions, for example, intelligent homes, transportation, public assistance, health care, open administrations, and numerous others. Internet of Things is a juncture where consistently gadgets wind up to be more quick-witted, insightful, understanding, intuitive and hence communication on daily basis become much simpler and lucid. While the IoT is still delving for its very own shape, its aftermaths have just gazed in making fantastic walks as a widespread arrangement media for the associated scenario. With the advancement in the technology and industrialization in software sector had evolved the huge infrastructure, where managing this infrastructure is a challenging. We made this project to ease the management of the office with huge number of cabins by fully automating the access, maintaining the records in the database, connecting it to cloud, using the concept of home automation and internet of things. The current study is to understand the application of RFID in Automating Quality Management. COMPONENTS Hardware Implementation:
  • 4. 4 These are the details of various components and sensors used in the development of the project are discussed as follows: a) RFID (RC 522) Card reader: The Radio Frequency Identification Technology (RFID) which works on the principle of radio frequency used to identify the different objects using a tag and a reader. There are different types of RFID tags like active and passive. RFID-RC522 is an electronic device used to read or write the data on the tags using non- contact and near proximity range at 13.56 MHz These tags are small but have high integration. Connected using few simple wires using Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI). Fig.1. RFID Reader b) Raspberry Pi: Raspberry pi is a small sized pc designed for educational purpose, developed by Raspberry Pi foundation in UK. In this project we are using Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ which runs at 1.4Ghz, dual-band wireless LAN,64 bit quad-core processor, has inbuilt Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules and support of Power-over-Ethernet. It has 4 USB ports. It uses Broadcom BCM2835 Soc in the first generation. The Raspberry Pi 3+ uses a Broadcom BCM2837B0. Default it operates at 700 MHz, the raspberry pi provided in the first generation has a real- world performance nearly equal to 0.041 GFLOPS on CPU. This device requires a micro SD card which is installed with a NOOBS operating system and a Micro USB used for power supply at 2.1A. It can be used as a desktop computer also. Fig.2 Raspberry Pi 3+
  • 5. 5 This paper introduces the Raspberry Pi application in the office through web and takes the information from the MQTT server and does the exchanging activities appropriately by reacting promptly. There are two Raspberry Pi used one either at the entrance of office or any place suitable. Fig.3 Receiving section containing raspberry pi and relay drivers c) LM 35 Temperature Sensor: The LM35 series are precision integrated circuit based temperature sensing devices with the output voltage which is linearly proportional to the temperature measured in Centigrade applied in the surrounding environment of the sensor. LM35 series devices have an advantage when compared to linear temperature sensors which calculate the temperature in Kelvin, Since the user is not required to subtract a large reference voltage from the output to get convenient scaling in Centigrade. The LM35 series sensor has 3 pins namely Vcc that is voltage supply required by IC, ground which is connected to the ground of the controller The LM35 series IC’s do not need any external trimming or the calibration to give typical accuracies of ±¼°C at an average room temperature of ±¾°C, at a full −55°C to 150°C range of temperature. These IC’s can be used with only one power supply, or with two power supplies. Fig.4 LM 35
  • 6. 6 d) Relay: These relay modules are electrically operated switches that allow switching circuit using either by voltage or current which is higher the voltage level of the raspberry pi. There are several relays used in this project to connect the each and every electrical device which is to be controlled by the user either from the IOT or by the lab manager through the AWS server. Software Implementation This paper uses various software technologies which are both at client and server side, The different software’s used in this paper are mentioned below • Python • Amazon Web Services: In AWS we have used a Ubuntu EC2 virtual machine. • MySQL • PHP Fig.5 Webpage showing the user Entries and exits and number of live users
  • 7. 7 Intelligent Office Management System The architecture of the intelligent office environment system This intelligent office framework is intended for both client driven and office administrator/colleague driven purposes. In this, the framework or the client chooses the "on" or "off" of the electrical devices for a particular cubicle or area in office when a worker having a place with that cubicle enters the workplace. The employees additionally have the decision to pick which electrical gadgets should be turned "on" or "off" when he enters or leaves and the database will record the choice that has been made. Right off the bat, the servers and sensors are instated, when the RFID reader identifies the passage of the client then it will send the data of the client to the raspberry pi and the raspberry pi stacks the information on the AWS server and all the while on MQTT server. There is another raspberry pi which goes about as the collector, which gets the live information from MQTT alongside the recognizable proof number of the client, at that point the recipient side raspberry pi triggers the transfers of the specific client hence turning on the electrical machines of that client. While the AWS server after receiving the data, it stores the received data in the database. The information is updated on the website showing the number of users in the office and there logs. This webpage also allows the office assistant/manager to turn “on” or “off” the devices at a higher authority level. Fig.6 Block diagram at the sender side.
  • 8. 8 Fig.7 Block diagram at the receiver side. Related Works Considering the fact that this project is solely based on the concept of Internet of things, there is a lot of groundwork that is being done by many that included various ways of implementing the perception of internet of things in a whole new way. The contemporary work is primarily based on the regulation and supervision of lighting systems. In Hang Li et al [1], he exclusively talks about the smart utilization of office environment by concentrating on the ventilation, lighting of the rooms and the ventilation that is being provided in the offices. Spreading more light on this topic we have Shang-Wei Wang et al [2], who in his paper talks about the vivid use of RFID in healthcare by demonstrating its applications in hospitals. Moving forward to another paper which was written by Yichen Ma et al [3], he concentrates on the Radio Frequency Identification System also well known as RFID. He conceptualizes the idea of RFID system in laboratories and how the educational institutions get benefited by this identification system. Another person by the name Rahul D S et al [4], discusses in his paper about how the Solar power and IoT together when intertwined can lead to great advancements in the field of agriculture. He talks about how the farm and irrigation monitoring can be optimized with the usage of IoT along with solar power which are unified with Wi-Fi. R.Nageswara Rao et al [5], argues about the vital role of agriculture and the aftermath of using IoT based systems in this field of agriculture for monitoring the crop and mechanization of irrigation. He used Raspberry Pi for developing this system which could improve the productivity of the whole agricultural fashion. These are just a few in a billion who threw light upon the cumbersome Internet of things. Results The implementation of the project in the real word is intended to accomplish a much proficient and clear execution of saving power and expanding work process productivity in the workplace condition. The AWS server assumes an imperative role in dealing with all the
  • 9. 9 mind-boggling tasks of keeping up the whole database of every last worker and in this way gradually learning itself about every individual representative's entrance and leave timings. The MQTT server is another stage which is exclusively utilized in cell phones for the straightforward access of representatives at whatever point they need to thereby decrease the power utilized. For example there has been an achievement of 23.3% reduction in wasteful time during rebar placement operations, through the use of RFID technology. Automated System in Quality Inspection Previous works in developing an automated system in quality inspection were also reviewed in this project. This review focuses on the research projects of the past decade, which centered on developing applied systems via the application of state-of-the-art technologies. This approach by previous works therefore supports the direction of the current study, which aims to utilize a sensory system combined with virtual technology. The review was able to arrive at two concluding points. First, the past decade of research for automated inspection systems has focused primarily on system accuracy, rather than its validation. Radopoulou and Brilakis (2016), for instance, presented an automated detection system for multiple pavement defects. In this case, the focus of the data analysis was for accuracy, rather than any evaluation during its conduct. In addition, Turkan et al. (2012) developed a tracking system for the construction of reinforced concrete and steel structures. Kwon et al. (2014) also integrated BIM with image matching and augmented
  • 13. 13 reality (AR), with the goal of achieving quality inspection without the need for an actual site visit. Again, these projects were focused on testing the accuracy of progress tracking and defect detection, respectively. The other point, as defined during the literature review, is the tendency of the research to converge toward issues of safety. Moon et al. (2011) presented a ubiquitous sensor network (USN)–based data acquisition system with the focus of increasing structural safety. In a similar manner, Wang and Boukamp (2007) developed an automated system to detect safety requirements. Park and Kim (2013) also proposed a prototype that allowed for safety management through a visualization system, which was then tested based on an accident scenario. The previous research projects in the safety issue also have its deficiency in the evaluation to measure its own value in practical situation. Given these points, the presented project decided to further its developed system through the use of a time study to measure its true value in an actual environment. This included an accuracy test as well as the presentation of time data to quantify its workability, as represented by the measured productivities. CONCLUSION: The use of RFID tagging system and raspberry pi 3 is to procure the management of the office which is smart enough. In the pragmatic or practical approach this project yields better results than that of the theoretical results. RFID and Raspberry Pi are the hardware capable components. The data is received from RFID reader and is sent to Amazon web server and MQTT server. We also regulate the Electrical and Electronics devices of various employees distinctively by using the ID tag. The data about the details of an employee are transferred to the cloud. A mobile phone application which works by integrating the concoction of both IoT and the RFID system to monitor and control the devices through the application ‘MQTT’ which remotely gives the flexibility to the users. Thus, reducing energy consumption and thereby increasing the effectiveness. The results proved that the prototype is worked well. This system helps to efficiently scale down the load of work that is on the employees. REFERENCES [1] Li, Hang.
