INTRODUCTION
GATE, an all India examination, tests the comprehensive understanding of various
undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. It’s the ticket to the country’s finest
Post-Graduate programs.
Gate Point Application, promises preparation material customized for different undergraduate
courses. This android application made especially for the multi-tasking undergraduates. Carry
your preparation material with you, access it from anywhere, take tests on the move and leave no
stone unturned in your preparation process.
Gate point application provides you rich learning content for Computer Science and Electrical
Engineering courses. It also provides syllabus for all courses that you can easily prepare
yourselves. It also provides latest news about GATE examination.
Gate Point has a creative user interface. You can easily install this application in your android
mobile or tablet. Gate Point android application is aimed at students who want to access GATE
content on the go! So no matter you are travelling, on an expedition or you are in rock concert, if
you have time, we have the content for you.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENT SPECIFICATION
This subsection contains the requirements for the Gate Point. These requirements are discussed
step by step. Requirements are then refined into data flow diagrams (DFD) to best capture the
functional requirements of the system.
Functional Requirements
R1: Welcome Page
Description: In Gate Point, when User clicks on Gate Point App icons in android phone
or tablet menu a page or activity will pop up. A splash screen window will opened.
Input: Click on Gate Point Icon.
Output: Display Splash Screen for few seconds.
R2: Gate Point Home Page
Description: After displaying the welcome page splash screen a new activity or page will
opened named, Homepage. There are multiple image buttons given in Homepage of
different subjects. After clicking on the contents shown in homepage different activity
will pop up.
R2.1:Engineering Mathematics
Input: Click on engineering mathematics icon.
Output: It shows all the content of engineering mathematics.
R2.2:ElectricalEngineering
Input: Click on electrical engineering icon.
Output: It shows all the content of electrical engineering.
R2.3:Computer Science/InformationTechnology
Input: Click on CS/IT icon.
Output: It shows all the content of CS/IT.
R3: Sliding Menu
Description: It shows menu items of Gate Point App like News, Syllabus etc. Click on
different menu items different fragments will open.
Input: Slide Android Screen Left to Right or click on toggle button .
Output: Sliding menus will open.
R4: File into Data Base
Description: All files used in different activities will fetch files form Database.
Input: Query to fetch file.
Output: Display files.

Non Functional Requirement
N1: Platform
Android Development Tools (ADT) version needs to be developed.
N2: Performance
Requirements System will have
resources required, low response time, high throughput.
N5: Portability
The system can be moved to an android target platform only. The measurement is number of
modules that need changing.
N6: Reliability
The chance of failure or error occurrences is low. The system will be capable enough to
handle such situations.
Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) =
N7: Usability
The system will be easy to use and operate.
Observation: Since there are many requirements, the requirements have been organized into
sections. This would not only enhance the readability of the document but would have in
design.

Hardware Requirement:
Processor - 1.0 GHz Quad-Core Processer
RAM - 256 MB or more
Operating System - Android
Software Requirement:
Programming Language - Java/Java EE
IDE - Eclipse SDK

DESIGNING APPROACH
Iterative Waterfall Model
In Iterative model, iterative process starts with a simple implementation of a small set of the software
requirements and iteratively enhances the evolving versions until the complete system is implemented and
ready to be deployed.

GANTT CHART
A Gantt chart, commonly used in project management, is one of the most popular and useful
ways of showing activities (tasks or events) displayed against time. On the left of the chart is
a list of the activities and along the top is a suitable time scale. Each activity is represented
by a bar; the position and length of the bar reflects the start date, duration and end date of the
activity.
 What the various activities are.
 When each activity begins and ends.
 How long each activity is scheduled to last.
 Where activities overlap with other activities, and by how much.
 The start and end date of the whole project.

PERT CHART
A PERT chart is a graphic representationof aproject'sschedule,showingthe sequence of tasks,which
taskscan be performedsimultaneously,andthe critical pathof tasksthat mustbe completedontime in
orderfor the projectto meetitscompletiondeadline.
